Heating console and hud don't light up

Code 18 on my part?

When I turn lighting system on the hud goes dark

With no lights had is up but the heating console area isnt lit

Am I going crazy? It's not brightness control

What happens when you push on the brightness button in the cluster of 4 buttons on the left side?

It cycles through how bright it is if i have the headlights shut off. nothing with the headlights on as the entire hud is dark.

I believe there is a short somewhere in backlight circuit. When you turn on your headlights
it appears that those other modules that also have backlight (like climate panel) join the
speedo backlight and are controlled using the normal dimmer button. But if there is a
short then lights just won't work. It is also possible that the relay that switches lights on
is defective.

If you ran out of warranty then I would start with disconnecting 12V battery for few minutes.
Maybe it just went crazy.
