Obviously the cars come off trucks at the dealer, but presumably they go by rail most of the way. Is there a rail siding at the Smyrna plant where they load the finished cars?

1. Go to Google Maps.
2. Locate Tennessee.
3. Put in "Smyrna Nissan"
4. Zoom in on "A".
5. Yes, definitely. Including this one that goes right into the building.

Covered parking? Nice touch after ours sat baking in the sun in Port of Long Beach for 60 days as part of the delivery two years ago.

Lets hope they don't need to park the cars for long. Even though I like the low price I paid for my 2012 SL since no one in ND is buying, I would rather see lots on the road to get the party started.

Seems like a lot of fuss to ship 6000 cars a year. 20 a day heh. Leaf low sales joke. I think 20 titans with one car trailers would be more efficient and keep prices down.

Apparently a railroad car that transports automobiles can hold 12-20 depending on design and whether it has two or three shipping decks. At a production rate of 1500/day - that's a lot of railcars to move around that site each day.

Yep. Earlier posters can look at http://nissannews.com/en-US/nissan/usa/channels/Plant-Fact-Sheets/releases/a506a70d-4579-4c8d-a815-ee55498cd848" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

I've skimmed at http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/05/business/the-ieconomy-nissans-move-to-us-offers-lessons-for-tech-industry.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; that talks about Nissan's beginnings at Smyrna while searching for another article in vain about Nissan's beginnings there and about how Calsonic (one of Nissan's big suppliers) was training its suppliers/sub-contractors in the area on quality.
