"Tiny supply, huge markup" is what I heard when I went looking last month: https://mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=32798&start=20#p613903

From checking Hyundai's inventory pages, Kona EV inventory still seems extremely limited in Nor Cal and So Cal. As a result, it's probably out as a choice for me now.

They are also still having battery problems. Friends bought a Kona EV, drove for two weeks, called into the shop, and it's been there over a month. They don't know when they'll get it back. They may try to get a buy back.

That's a good point. And with relatively few of these cars being shipped to the US, it's going to be harder to get defective batteries replaced in a timely manner.

I posted a quarterly report of how many recalled US Kona EV's have been remedied at https://www.chevybolt.org/threads/kona-recall-status.40564/#post-695586.

https://www.chevybolt.org/threads/recall-quarterly-report-2021-3.41181/#post-687851 is where Bolt is at. The recall ending in 880 covers '17 to '19 Bolts. 940 covers '20 to '22 Bolts. This all US only. I don't have numbers for outside the US.

While I hope the new Bolt batteries are better, with a few new Korean ev fires in the news, I am back to thinking if your don't need thermal mgmt in the car, better not to have it.

Name the currently selling in the US as new consumer highway legal BEVs that don't have battery cooling.

I guess it's down to the Leaf at this point.

And TBH, it is a selling point for me due to it's simplicity, it's sort of like when one of the few air-cooled cars you could buy was a Porsche.

I really don't need a Plus but with used prices the way they are here, the costs to upgrade from my 2017 S to a 2023 SV is ridiculously low. If I could find an SV in a color/configuration I liked for MSRP I'd probably buy one. Right now the biggest thing stopping me is the hassle factor.

Interesting? Because definitely not seeing that here. Used is high but so is new. As far as range? Get the most you can afford or are willing to spend. It will NEVER be a bad decision.

Used Leaf prices just keep climbing up here. It's hard to tell if they really sell for that price but on CL lately, I've seen 2015 Leafs advertised for $18 and 2017 models listed for over $20k. A user here recently had a 2017 model bought by Carvana for $19k. If I could get that and find a 2023 at MSRP, I'd probably do it. As you said, even if I don't need the range every day or even every week, there is always a time when you're low and charge and want to do a last minute trip. More range is certainly better.

More range allows you to be careless about being prepared but also need to look farther down the road when it comes time to swap it for something shinier.
