Is the 2016 Leaf BATTERY HIGHER density or just old battery tech with more cells?

Hi I'm wondering if the energy density of the new 2016 leaf it better than the old versions? Or is it just the same technology with more cells to give the battery more capacity?

Higher density. Appears to be same number of cells, half the modules. Essentially two modules are now packaged as one, so instead of a module having 4 cells, each module has 8 cells.
