Their website is back up and they list 4 dealer locations-- It's going to be hard for them to give away the free chargers if they don't come up with the $56,000 storage bill. They can't possibly survive under these circumstances-- maybe they just want to liquidate their remaining stock before they close. Any way to know how many they assembled?

I don't normally watch AutolineDetroit but I stumbled across some funny comments at http://youtu.be/QiVWce8S6IQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. We all know how YouTube comments are so full of great discussion. ;) (http://xkcd.com/202/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

These two comments cracked me up.

I'm impressed- this is good design. Hopefully they keep iterating, because this is the first time i've seen something competitive with the design quality of tesla.

best EV ever. Best range, great handling, good performance.
Not sure whether these guys are serious, shills or just trying to be funny...

http://www.codasiliconvalley.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is down. It's still listed at https://app.codaautomotive.com/Locations" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but Yelp at http://www.yelp.com/biz/coda-silicon-valley-santa-clara" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; says it's closed.

The dealership was part of http://dgdg.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and I don't see Coda listed there anymore.

I haven't been by that area in ages and never even swung by when they were open. Anyone live near there confirm that it's closed?

I noticed that two lawsuits were recently filled against Coda at http://dockets.justia.com/search?q=CODA+Automotive%2C+Inc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Well, this should put the wraps on this thread more or less, as the end has come for CODA. At least when it comes to selling electric vehicles:

Electric Car Maker CODA Files For Bankruptcy

"In a move that should come as a surprise to no one following the start-up based out of Los Angeles, CODA Holdings Inc. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy today, in hopes of re-emerging as a new kind of company in 45 days time..."

It is officially pretty much all over for Coda:

For anyone interested, here's some more background info from the Chief Restructuring Officer's Affidavit:

I've only briefly skimmed bits of it.

Found this today...
City officials react to CODA collapse:

After doing some more digging, I found http://beniciaherald.me/2013/02/26/coda-leaves-benicia/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; from Feb 26, 2013.

http://beniciaherald.me/2012/09/14/after-recall-coda-city-stay-positive/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; was from Sept 14, 2012 with this interesting bit...
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and CODA Automotive have issued a recall of 78 of the company’s electric sedans because side curtain airbags may not deploy correctly, K. Forrest Beanum, vice president of the company’s public affairs and communications, confirmed Thursday.

However, he said other reports that the company has sold only 78 vehicles since launching last April “came to an erroneous conclusion.”

Beanum continued, “The company has not officially released our sales numbers, but media guesses have largely been inaccurate to date.”
If wonder if he/they are going to be in hot water given the 5/1/13 court filing states that "they sold fewer than 100 units".

(Reuters) - Two affiliates of failed U.S. electric-car maker Coda Automotive filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Tuesday, according to court documents, in another sign of the challenges facing the "green" car industry.

Lio Energy Systems Holdings and Miles Electric Vehicles are seeking to have their cases jointly administered with those of parent Coda Holdings and its affiliates, including Coda Automotive, which filed for bankruptcy on May 1.

Well you can buy the full COMPLETE gilders on Ebay minus the battery for a dang good price!

My buddy just bought one.. We're going to be working on a battery solution...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Othe...pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item4176f357f1&vxp=mtr

I don't see why you can't get the $2500 state and $7500 federal tax incentives on these NEW vehicles, after you put a battery in it!
Don't know, but my buddy got one for a steal!

I'll let him deal with all that junk but they are wheeling & dealing to dump their stock.

Great for the DIY'er! ;)

Wow, someone in Houston actually has one and is selling it.

Crackpipe price if you ask me: Orphaned car and they are asking retail-federal credit-california credit=Retail-$10K. In other words they are asking for what would be a new car price in California.

Riiiight. But I guess if you just HAD to have one of the 117 they actually sold.

Who knows.. Maybe they will become collectible since there were so few produced? I know that's the only reason I'd buy one, if I was convinced it would be a collectors item. I wouldn't want to drive it. Partly because I just don't like the car. But also because it would be nearly impossible to get it fixed if it broke or were damaged in a wreck.
