So VW made a concept car that got 260 miles to the gallon. One of the tricks they used to reduce the air drag on the car was to get rid of the side rear view mirrors and replace them with cameras. My first thought was that this is brilliant! My second was wondering if someone had come up with a conversion kit for the leaf (and if it is even feasible).

I have been searching, but 99.9% of the stuff I find is about adding a rear view camera. Does anyone know if someone has a kit? Would it even be worth it? I do remember reading somewhere that the drag from the mirrors was sufficient enough to cause range issues (hence why the headlights are shaped as they are to help the air "go around" the mirrors).

As the usual, horrible arcane rules causing issues with something i want to do! :)

It was also done to reduce wind noise at the mirrors...
