To all of those hopefulls with MONEY, and who don't like WAITING, I present you the eBox...

great range, fast charging (up to 20KW), only problem? It's not cheap... $55K for the conversion + $15K for the donor Scion

Tom Hanks has one, oh yeah, it also support "V2G" (Vehicle to Grid), and can be used as a backup AC generator for your house as well... it is a low volume car, and you might have to wait a while for delivery, but still possibly quicker than those of us in the last 36 states, for a Leaf.

BTW, none of this is news, this has been out a long time, it's just no one seems to mention it here.

Not exactly new news, these have been around for years and we have discussed them here often. I have driven Tom's before and it is a really fun vehicle with incredible regen up to 150 kw.

yup, I know. I just wonder if they have reduced the pricing yet, or have any other vehicles they are converting...
The battery pack pricing should have come down some since 2006, I wonder if they are ever going to "scale up",
the specs are a lot better than the Leaf, the 20KW recharging, the 35KW pack, better range etc, excellent battery pack monitoring, great regen capability, everything is better, except the price :(

They never wanted to be in the conversion business, more licensing. The e-box with three adults going up a large hill will make the Leaf look slow on flat ground. The regen on that car is astonishing and adjustable from 0-100%, it's incredible to drive.

Their biggest hindrance, from what they told me, was Scion going to the gen 2 version. The conversions weren't engineered to fit it, and apparently wouldn't.

Weight, a huge difference between the two at curb weight. The old version was good because it had a much lower weight.
