The Verge: Behind the scenes at Faraday Future, an electric carmaker on the brink of collapse
http://www.theverge.com/2016/12/22/1390 ... -lesee-car

There's some goofy reporting here. They keep referring to "former Nissan factory". I had to look up where FF is based. It's based in Gardena, CA. I'm unaware of Nissan ever having a plant on the US West Coast. Their North American HQ used to be in Gardena (http://articles.latimes.com/2005/nov/11 ... i-nissan11) before they moved to TN. This is probably what the article is talking about.

I've been confused about the relationship between LeEco and FF. They made a bunch of noise with http://nbr.com/2016/10/19/leecos-push-i ... -s-market/ (and other stuff earlier) yet a few weeks later, it was widely reported that LeEco was running out of cash:

Lots of sizzle, no steak.

As the LEAF and Tesla model S were announced and approached production and delivery there was huge pent up desire by many to own an EV, so much so that they would put down deposits on unknowns that were a year or more from reality. I'm thinking a newcomer like FF doesn't have that luxury, people in 2017 aren't going to sit on the edges of their seats waiting to see if they can execute. To be relevant now you have to actually deliver car.

Faraday is behind on bills and will likely shutter soon.

Their whole concept was stupid.

It's almost as if they are taking the Tesla approach of starting with the Roadster to fund the S, and then the S and X to help grow to deliver the 3.

What would have been interesting would have been a 200+ mile EV with 2 or 4 motors that cost under $50K. I don't care if it beats the 0-60 of a Model S.

More videoware from Faraday Future: Autoweek: The Faraday Future is still in the future; meanwhile, here's a video
Autoweek wrote:To be sure, the future is still coming, but Faraday has whittled seven future models down to just two, which should be built in its (also future) production facility north of Las Vegas. The planned facility, expected to go online in 2019, is now promised to have an annual production capacity of just 10,000 vehicles, though there's no word how that production capacity will divide among the two models. Faraday is also staying mum on the other part of building boutique electric cars: Selling boutique electric cars.

http://www.businessinsider.com/faraday- ... ces-2017-1 from mid Jan 2017 (a few weeks after CES) claims
The company announced that it received more than 64,000 reservations for the car shortly after CES, but people were allowed to put their names down with or without a $5,000 deposit. Sources close to the company told Business Insider 60 people actually submitted a paid reservation.

Anyone have more accurate numbers on the paid reservation numbers?

From the front, it looks like what would have been the 2020 Saturn Ion. From the rear, I think Tesla's lawyers will have an answer for that. ;-)

Unless they made the LeCar (joke) I've never heard of them before this.
