White leather interior

I was ready to buy a 2016 SL, but I couldn't get past how dark the black leather interior looked.

A white leather interior would be gorgeous, and a real differentiator in the segment.

As an early adopter, my interior choices were "Recycled Milk container off white fabric ", and.... No, That was it.

I figured this was going to be my daily driver, and that soon-to-be-filthy fabric was not what I wanted.
I took it to the local upholstery place, and had "Dove Gray" leather installed throughout.

Doors, seats, center all of it.
Matches really well.

4 years and it still looks good.

Ha! I put grey leather in my 2011, along with the rubber style floor mats, as a tactical move... Even with 2 bars down, another one soon to fall... So far also vey pleased--driver side slightly more worn in than passenger and back, but pretty good. Love is as love does... ;)

Agree. Tan or white would be so much better for hot weather climates like Phoenix.

Better everywhere.
When 2013 came out with leather I would have traded in my 2011.
But between black leather and the stupid change to foot operated parking brake I could not stomach the change.
So still driving my 2011 since May 17, 2011.
Getting new free battery today :D

I confess I would feel more secure with a nice old fashioned manual brake lever between the seats.
With everything dependent on that super-capacitor, a manual backup to stop would be nice.

Unfortunately, I had to replace the 2011. The dark black interior is HOT and I hate the foot-operated parking brake (the ratcheting on/off mechanism in the pedal is a joke). I had no trouble with the electric parking brake on the 2011, but have already had the mechanical parking brake repaired once and it will need adjusting when I go in for the next battery test in February. I would have preferred a light grey interior with light grey leather seats, but black is what you get if you want an SL.

Looks great. I fail to understand the appeal of black interiors unless one is very messy and/or has pre-school children.
