As lack of water for cooling is causing problems for some thermal power plants, this research seems to be much needed. Of course, I expect most older thermal plants were designed with no consideration given to minimizing the amount of water needed, and newer plant designs are apparently much more efficient already, but using no water at all for cooling would be useful in some circumstances.
