As we all know, Leaf does not have spare tire, if your tire get flat then you either tow it to the shop or use "Fix a tire" kit that included into the Leaf. If you use "Fix a Tire" then you have to pay hundred dollars to replace the tire sensor and cleanup afterward.
After doing some research online, I finally install a spare tire in the trunk. The total cost is less than $70
Below is instruction on how to: ( I assumed that you know how to remove the plastic cover underneath the trunk, I will not discussing this)
Parts:
- $15 for new spare tire size 135-90-16 (Nissan Altima year 2000 and up) from Pick Your Part (http://www.lkqpickyourpart.com/locations/LKQ_Pick_Your_Part_-_Anaheim-265/). You can also get it from Ebay for $80
- $15 for Wing nut, screw, washer, bracket and hook from Home Depot
- $12 for 4'x8' wood board (the one that home builder use on the roof) at HD
- $2 for 2"x4" wood
- $20 Jack from Amazon for Harbor Freight
Instruction:
1- Cut 3 pieces of 2"x4" to the size of spare tire high (when lay flat on ground) then position the wood and mark it as below
2- Using small drill bit to drill the hole through mat floor and metal trunk.
3- Using "Drywall" screw or any screw that you may have then go under the trunk to screw up from the hole that you just drilled. The goal is you want to secure 3 pieces of 2x4 down to the floor mat and car trunk. The final will look like the first picture.
4- Now drill 2 hole (I think this is 3/8 bold)

6- Lay the trunk cover mat on 4'x8' wood board and get the size of it then cut so it can look like this:
7- Now, install the wood board in step 6 back to the trunk and secure it.
8- Spare tire project is now completed, The tire is secured into the car floor by two 3/8" bold and the wood board is secured into the tire
