Here is a recent story by this reporter

and a followup interview on a Chicago radio show

"What is known, however, is that the Obama and Bush administrations poured millions of dollars into battery production in a quest to power thousands of Think City vehicles with lithium-ion batteries. To date, Ener1, parent of the battery company, has spent $55 million in federal funding, according to the U.S. Department of Energy."

Seems to be equal opportunity bashing, mentioning both Bush and Obama. Julie, what is the angle for this research you're soliciting here?

As you might imagine, LEAF owners get regular solicitations to be surveyed, polled and interviewed. I'd be happy to discuss the car with you, however without the Motown angle that I think you might want.

not much of an advertisement for talking to her.

Looks like 'she' covers all things Green ... link to bio:

http://bio.tribune.com/juliewernau

EV's around Chicago are still pretty much an unknown and haven't been covered much so on the positive side its good to see something ... I'm sure it's background for what we might see at the Chicago Auto Show later this week.

How sweet that I found this post. I'm looking to buy the Leaf, I live in Chicago Land and I work for the Tribune too!!! :) We need to talk and maybe you can help me get a charger installed at the Tribune (FC location). :) In return I'll give you all the data you need for your news report. What do you say?

I really doubt that this reporter checks this forum much and as it was published a few months ago (1st link) although she does keep the news on EV's, etc. coming ... those in and around Chicago can be found over on the 'Chicagoland' thread (2nd link) which is up to almost 90 pages of useful stuff ... after reading through that as well as all the other stuff posted and you still have more questions please feel free to post any more specifics not covered; you'll find that we've just about seen or heard them all. Some of use carry around a data sheet as well that refers to this forum as well so it's a great starting point -- the earliest LEAF was delivered in Chicago this past November so many will have a number of months to tell about.

Welcome to the forum!

Sent an email to the reporter, maybe she can assist me in getting L1 access or L2 charger installed at work. If I can get something going that 2013 model has my name on it. :)

reporters dont assist you in doing anything, except maybe getting some publicity for you or your organization/business; and there is no guarantee that you will like the publicity.

Thing is I work with this reporter but in a different building, I'm trying to see if maybe a newspaper like this wants to give publicity for itself by showing its going green. :) Never hurts to try, worst thing that could happen is they could say no.

that would be two separate decisions -- install chargers as part of a greening of the company and cover the Tribune chargers in a story about the greening of Chicago -- by separate parts of a news organization that believes biz and news side dont get together on coverage.

you can always ask.
