Is my Blink Home EVSE safe for 6.6 kW charging?

Hi All I just turned in my 2012 Leaf, which charged for two years with no problems at 3.3 kW (15A) on the Blink home EVSE that I got through the EV Project. The new 2015 Leaf, however, has 6.6 kW Level 2 charging (i.e. 30A). I've heard that Blink has had issues with their plugs overheating at...

    End of Lease Decision Framework

Interesting discussion. I would hope that there would be some creative thinking from Nissan at the end of the lease period here. I'll have to think about the math more, but I sense there may be some zone of mutual benefit for me and for Nissan, if we can both be flexible. From my perspective...

    End of Lease Decision Framework

Hi All I'm about 1 year in to my 2-year lease on a 2012 Leaf. Everything's working well. With my partner using the Leaf for a long-ish commute (30 mi each way) several days a week, we'll be on track to use most of the 24,000 miles on the lease agreement. And we're saving quite a lot on gas...

    Odd experience with DCFC

That's not entirely surprising given how slow Blink / Ecotality / McKinstry was in completing my home charger. Hate to bitch about a free charger, but it's annoying when you have to prompt them for each step in their elaborate process, because nothing moves on its own. Has anyone done a good...

    Odd experience with DCFC

Actually, these Aeronvironment QCs don't offer any choices like 80% or 100%. The sequence was that the car cut off charging at 80%, and then I re-started (after changing the charging timer to accept 100%). The QC was reading out 93% at that point and climbed slowly. I'm assuming that the QC...

    Odd experience with DCFC

Hi All Partner and I tried a trip from Seattle to near Mt. Vernon in the Leaf yesterday, which necessitated a quick charge at the Aerovironment station in Burlington for the 60 mi trip home. I have to say, the range anxiety was not fun, and they need to put in more quick chargers at closer...

    New Leaf Owner in Seattle

    Best app I've found for keeping track of L2 and L3 charging stations is Plug Share. It takes in data from multiple networks (Blink, ChargePoint, etc.), has pictures and review notes on locations' quirks. Really well done. http://www.plugshare.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

DC fast charger stops too soon

So the general rule with chargers seems to be to ignore pretty much all the instrumentation (timers, % charge, etc.) on the charger and let the car control everything. That's what the guy who did my Blink L2 home install recommended.

Thanks, all. I love the fact that the previous poster tracked time series data! Gotta love the Leaf nerd community.

DC fast charger stops too soon

Hi All Partner and I were doing some grocery shoping yesterday, so I used the opportunity to try out the nearby Blink DC Fast charger for the first time. The car was just under 50% charged when I plugged in. I told the Blink charger to charge it to 80%. The car was set to go to 100%. The DC...

Newbie trying to figure out charging

Thanks, all, for the pointers. Having the same start and stop time does appear to work now. I think before I had pushed the timer off button at some point. And I agree that you really have to pay attention to when "back" is the right response and when "yes" is the right response. I don't...

I'll double check my settings. Good to know that strategy works for you. Thanks.

Newbie trying to figure out charging

Hi All Apologies in advance if this has been answered, but I'm 2 days into a Leaf lease and still learning. Last night, I plugged in my trickle charger and set the charging timer to long-life mode (80%). I set the charge timer for every day from 12:00 a.m. to 11:50 p.m. expecting that...
