    T/M Vehicle System Malfunction Warning

Well, that's a penetrating insight. Odd, don't you think, that not only Nissan, but Every other EV manufacturer makes the same silly mistake and uses a 12V system to run onboard electronics, accessories, and lighting? Maybe it has something to do with Safety Feel like plugging into a...

The official "I got my Leaf" thread

It's great that your LEAF is serving you so well, but the "order of magnitude" term has a fairly well understood meaning, at least in engineering circles, and it's somewhat unlikely that your $/mi is even ONE order of magnitude cheaper, let alone several. How about just saying, "much cheaper"...

    Real range of Leaf SL

Taking the risk of assuming my preferences are typical of most, I'm going to say that regeneration is a Sam Gompers issue. The correct amount of regeneration is "more". In any particular driving situation, when you want less-than-maximum deceleration, just feather the e-pedal a smidge.

6.6 kw charger on 2012 SL model

Just what it says, I'm sure: An accelerating charging rate that starts out at zero, builds to 7kW by the end of the first hour, 14kW after 2 hours, 21kW after 3, and so on.

Total cost of Ownership of Used 2013-17 Nissan Leaf

I know this is just wishful thinking at this point, but I've often fantasized about what "winning" would look like for EVs - at least, at the turning of the tide. We'd like to see demand for gasoline plummet, right? And what would its price do in response?

Looking to buy a Leaf but unsure

A case can be made that this advice doesn't apply to consumer electronics. Often, the first version of a product is optimized for minimizing risk of production or performance problems. Later on, the fine-tuning of trading off reliability to lower manufacturing cost can be done.

Three days old Tekna 40 with stuck window :(

Power window maintenance has come up several times in Scotty Kilmer's car-repair videos, with his usual recommendation being to lube the window slides a couple times a year with WD-40 Silicone spray. Haven't tried it myself, but it seems plausible. Here's a link to a recent example of his...

Dysfunctional “Charge Timer only at home” setting

I've set up my 2018SV's timers is exactly the same as you described, including the "only at home" feature. I've only plugged into maybe a dozen public L2/L1 charging stations, but charging started immediately at each of them without needing to push the timer override button. I agree that...

Finding a GOOD certified EV/Leaf tech

Good idea, but maybe several such lists should be established under the "Local/Regional Discussions" page. However good a Florida LEAF tech might be, I'm unlikely to take my Oregon LEAF to them.

HELP deciding whether to buy a Leaf Plus

Have you looked into the availability of DC fast-charging stations along your route? Would taking a fifteen-minute break somewhere around the end of the "open highway" portion of your monthly trip be so bad?

Error on dash and won't charge at home

YouTube's discussion/comment feature is mostly horrible, but one thing it does have that would be nice here on MNL is upvoting/downvoting counters. This comment of yours, Nubo, merits immediate and enthusiastic up-voting.

    Idea for Nissan

Can the LEAF's USB port handle a hub?

    Question about Air conditioner

What are you calling "alot of power"? I understand that configuring the LEAF's heat pump to allow cabin heating sacrificed a smidgen of efficiency relative to the earlier "cabin cooling only" setups, but it still seems pretty effective to me. For darn sure, you're not going to outdo it with...

    LEAF 240/120V portable EVSE question

I recently noticed something surprising about the Nissan Model #296900 portable 240/120VAC EVSE that came with my 2018SV LEAF: its snap-on L1 adapter for tapping into a regular 120VAC household plug isn't fully mechanically keyed. It will attach in either of two ways; there is no control...

    Unusual timer charging problem

The "clunking" you're hearing from your EVSE's contactor is supposed to let the car assess the voltage that it will be charging from when it DOES decide to charge. It needs to know that in order to figure out how far in advance of an "end time" the charging must begin in order to hit the car's...
