    REALLY!!! $200 gas tax.

I am also in NC and recall $140 for mine. That’s based on figures that are unlike my driving patterns. (15k miles per year with something like 25 mpg, was proposed.) 10 years ago I told my state legislator that the fair way to assess it would be to use the mileage gleaned from our annual...

Phone Calls - People Can't Hear Me

My radio doesn’t go out. However, it seems possessed and jumps from volume level 8 or 11 all the way to 72 or more. It happens unpredictably and is very disruptive. It has occasionally happened when I’ve hit a bit of rough road or a speed bump, but I can’t make it happen to show a repair person...

How often do you drive without ECO?

I drove in ECO my first four years or so in my 2012, starting in November, 2011. A service technician said I could get just as much mileage if I drove without it as long as I used awareness (esp starting at traffic lights). I used to keep careful track of each trip back then. I did see about...

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

I lost my first bar a week ago: car purchased Nov 8, 2011, built in August 2011. Five weeks short of 3rd birthday! lost 12th bar: Oct 2, 2014 28410 miles 196 gids at 80% charge (I think 233 gids at 100%, but I didn't write it down to bring to computer :( ) 55.62 Ah 70.42% Hx 84% SOH Mostly...

Poll : Number of miles before losing the first bar

Lost my first bar today. I had charged to 80% overnight, so I don't know what my 100% capacity would say. Info: 2012 Leaf, built August 2011, purchased 11/8/2011. (5 weeks away from 3 years old of driving). 28,410 miles. 55.62 Ah SOH 84% Hx 70.40% and 80% charge yielded me 196 Gids Never...

    Leafy, we hardly knew ye....

Not only does NC NOT have any rebates or tax credits, but it also charges us an extra $100 per year to register the car because we are not paying any gasoline tax. I had suggested to my state rep that they could charge us a per-mile fee based on mileage as reported in our annual inspections...

Update on Nissan LEAF Battery Replacement

I'll add to it as well. I love my car and enjoy driving it very much. The new battery info is very helpful. I'm thinking I will lose my first bar any day now. It is 2 and a half years old (32 months), has 26,400-ish miles. I won't be needing a replacement battery soon, but it is nice to...

how inconvenient is it to charge Leaf

I agree about the home charger. I do not have a garage, and here in central NC, there have only been a few times that lack of a garage has been a problem (torrential rain or ice storms come to mind). I got a large golf umbrella that has made rain less of an issue.

I Beat EPA's 73 Mile Range : Report your experience

Over Memorial Day weekend I twice beat the 73 miles with my 18 month old, 16K miles SL (2012). Rolling hills, generally 45-55mph (there is a place where the limit is 70mph, but I went 65 there). Temps between 59 and 81. On the way, had about 4.9 m/kwh on the dash. Coming back, had 5.2 m/kwh...

To charge or not to charge

Here in Chapel Hill I tend to charge it via timer to 80% in the winter regardless. That helps with those cold mornings when there are 4 battery bars. In seasons where my battery temperature is 5 or 6 bars, I consider my next day's drive and only plug in when I get down a bit and know I'll need...

Does Zero miles TRULY mean Zero. Are you dead on the road?

Many of us in NC are enjoying our Leafs (Leaves). Charging stations are few and far between except in one or two locations. I still (15 months into this adventure) tend to plan on charging at home and avoid trips requiring extra charging -- though there are some dealerships I can get to, and...

    Howdy folks

I am in central NC and use an outdoor EVSE as part of Duke Energy's pilot program. It is made by Siemens. Since I don't have a garage, it has been exposed to ice, snow, rain, falling leaves, insects... For the first time this past week, I had a LITTLE trouble pushing the trigger to release the...

    Range issues

When it is between +20 and +30F (-6 to -1C) and I'm driving in ECO mode, my heater takes as much as 4.5kW. I have never seen the heat use as little as 1.5kW -- it might eventually get down to only using 2.5kW once the cabin is a bit warmer. I only drive in ECO. On short trips, or when...
