We've been driving our LEAF since October 2012 here in Salt Lake City (Millcreek). Our white chariot is now serving four drivers in our household (2 teenagers). My son learnt to drive in the LEAF. Nobody wants to drive the other ICE car when given the choice. We've been using a Schneider...
Thanks guys for the links. Very interesting topic. What got me thinking about this is when people talk about their "range reduction with elevation". Sometimes it is confusing to me at first glance, when what they really saying (I think) is: the range was reduced whilst driving their EV from a...
Given the same temperature, flat terrain, and constant speed. What difference would air density (pressure) make on the range of an electric vehicle?
Are there any charts that show this impact at constant temperature and speed. I know there are range charts for specific cities in the US and...
Could Nissan make it possible for the user to set the charging to begin only when the state of charge (SOC) of the battery is less that a user specified level?
For example, only allow the car to accept a charge when the batter level is less than say 60% SOC, or any other specified SOC.
This...
It seems to me that Nissan did their homework with regard to locating the charge port at the front of the car. The location of the charge port is a important for me in my next EV lease (after my current lease is up end-2016). My order of preference is as follows:
1. Front - Leaf, best location...
Dhanson865, interesting thought and experience. I used to drive a Prius (traded in for a Leaf), and found the engine starting and stopping without my direct control mildly annoying. Also some of of the noises the engine made shortly after switching off were weird.
Regarding the SUV engine...
I just wanted to share this comment from our teenage daughter. She has done almost all her driving in our Leaf. I asked her recently why she does not like driving the SUV. She said "the noise from the engine scares her", hence she does not want to drive the SUV.
Since she has been driving an...
If charging to 80% lengthens battery life than there is cleary a tradeoff in range. To compensate one can charge to 80% or less say twice per day. So the question is, what is more detrimental to the battery life, charging frequency (to 80%) or charging to 100% at half the charging frequency?
Thanks
I was wondering if leaf drivers shopping patterns have changed since purchasing/leasing a Leaf. More specifically the distance one travels to the store. Where I am going with this is, if electric cars with 100 mile ranges replace the family car (mostly), would this be the demise of the big box...
