I cancelled my 2012 SL Leaf to wait for the 2013s. Now they are here but I'm waiting on a career opportunity to materialize first. Chances are still pretty good I'll have some EV this year. Still nursing along a 21 year old Camry and 22 year old Mazda pickup in the meantime.
Guess I hit the jackpot since I work for the VA at the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building adjacent to the Minneapolis/St Paul International Airport in Minnesota.
The entire building (a 6 floor office building) is undergoing a complete refurbishment under the American Recovery and...
When I drove a demo 2011 Leaf a year ago November, I was aghast how LOUD the turn signal indicator was. Don't know if Nissan uses an annoyingly loud clicker or it just seems extra loud because all the other noises are missing.
Nothing wrong at all with learning to drive on a stick shift. I got my license in '68 and one of the school cars was a '57 Chevy with a 3 speed on the column. The mainstream cars we used were GM products with highly overboosted power steering and brakes (yuck).
I took (and passed) my DL exam...
I believe that rule pertains to government-purchased fleets of EVs. Those vehicles, and the charging equipment reserved for them, would be off-limits for personal use. The government does provide free parking spaces, subsidized transit/carpool benefits, etc. for employees. They cannot provide...
This won't be the visitor lot so don't know if they will be offering EVSE stations for visitors or not.
I moved out here to the Twin Cities from Puyallup 16 years ago. Both kids were born @ Good Sam. I was back out there 2 years ago, hardly recognized the place.
If you take note of the light rail platform station in the background, this LRT runs on 100% renewable electric - mostly wind. There is an expansive array of solar panels going up on the roof or our federal building. Seventy percent of the former employees were relocated while building...
I definitely thought of that. I could fully charge up during the day at work, make the commute home, evening errands and commute back in the morning without much effort.
My home assessment came in @ $6k via Aerovironment. I know they're not cheap but my electrical service is currently maxed...
My workplace (U.S. Government office building) is installing 16 outdoor EV charging stations for employee use. Another 10 will be installed in the indoor garage. Stations will be L2 240V and will be free for employee use.
The revolution has begun! Now all I need to do is to re-order a Leaf...
Saw where Kline had recently advertised a blue SL so naturally wondered if was the one I had reserved. Coincidentally, I got my $99 refund today.
I expect we can order the Smyrna 2013s in another 5-6 months...
While the upcoming upgrades were enough for me to cancel my 2012 order, I really, really really want a Smyrna Leaf.
We lived there for 5 years when I was a grade-schooler in the early 60s.
Most of all I regret canceling the order because I need a car NOW! My daughter took my wife's '92 Camry with her to school last semester. I had to be shuttled back and forth to my bus stop each day. There were a couple of days when either the wife or son forgot which one was to pick me up in...
