Grin,
Still happy I have a Prius conversion here...seems that you guys would benefit from what a ScanGuageII (OBDII) adds to the Prius, monitoring many internals, such as SOC and temperatures. Lately, I have been made more aware that the engine (ICE) needs to run at least occasionally to keep...
Yes, my next car very likely to be an EV...hoping that within a couple of years there is an EV with with >300mi range (< 50K please), and the battery tech is better.
No regrets about doing the 12KWh conversion to my Prius...It does my commute at 80-90mpg, and no range anxiety, which to me is...
There are Prius' and there are converted PHEV Prius' like mine.
I have no regrets about sticking with my 12KWh (measured at recharge), converted PHEV Prius.

Possibly one of the few to rethink the Leaf equation....I have cancelled my reservation. The Leaf as it's first version does not have enough range, nor is the fast charging infrastructure present enough for me to notice a worthwhile improvement over my PHEV Prius...Please, remove me if my...
Right now it is looking like I will drop my Leaf reservation, though I had even scheduled the charger assessment for next month. I need more range, and my PHEV Prius is a good place to wait for either an EV with better range, or better charging to be implemented.
I would agree that until the real-world range improves that the PHEV Prius is a solution that will minimize "range anxiety". Without even going into "ICE-kill" mode on my (10-12KWh) version, in mixed mode I can average >65 mpg including a high speed commute with hills. From all that I have seen...
'09 Prius, 10KWh PHEV conversion,~80mpg...As this is the vehicle I would replace with the Leaf, will take some major reduction of my "range anxiety" to go with the Leaf.
In the last 6mos I have been getting quite a bit of experience with a 10KWh converted Prius in the hills of norcal...and I can tell you that for MANY reasons the Leaf should offer a comparitively vigorous level of cruising, both at highway speeds and over varied terrain....But untill we see some...
Acting on my Leaf reservation is VERY dependant on the real-world range of the Leaf, and the implementation of fast-charging. My converted PHEV Prius might just get me "by" until I see a practical EV with a decent range.
44 200W Kyocera panels in two ground mounted arrays of 22...Today did over 60KWh....Wind turbine, Skystream 3.7, much wimpier...average has been just over 1.5KWh/day.
I agree, and will be hard-pressed to begin modifying my garage for the charger without a definite feel for the range. Real-world for me range, not LA4...If I had an indication that the Leaf battery was unable to cover a 40mi commute @ 60mph with some hairy hills thrown in I would give up my...
