Hello,

I purchased the LELink OBDII diagnostic interface and run it with the LeafSpyPro V2. I am trying to turn off the sound that my 2023 Leaf makes while driving forward. My LeafSpyPro is only showing 4 - screens and the edit screen for the sounds is screen #5. Is there another way to turn of this sound?

Thanks for this awesome group.

But VSP (sounds) cannot be turned off in LeafSpy on later MY Leafs. Nissan has prevented this, most likely after they realized someone other than themselves could do it.

Thank you for the kindly advice. I really appreciate it. Would you know where the speaker is so that I can just unplug it. We live in an area where EVs are a highly politically charged topic and I am concerned about my wife driving it.

Thanks again.

You can see the speakers right up front. Towards the bottom of the car, right through the lower vent holes on the front bumper trim. If your hands are small enough you can even get your hands through the holes to undo the connectors. If not, it looks like there is a lot of work to do to remove the front bumper.

I see this come up a lot here, but any year model 2020 and older are the only ones left where you can disable the sounds via LeafSpy. For 2021 and newer, you can't disconnect the speakers without throwing a dash code, so the next best thing is to just plug up the speakers to muffle their sound. This is illegal in some places in the world, so know your local laws in case you have cops that are very aggressive about that.

I don't mind the sound... but I think i'd be fun to program it to make Chitty Chitty Bang Bang cartoony sounds, LOL... Def would keep someone buried in their phone from walking out in front of you!

I wouldn't advocate disabling VSP as it serves an important purpose. And it's not just EVs anymore. We have several neighbors with various Toyota hybrids (Prius, Camry, Highlander) and they all make a similar noise at low speed.

If I lived somewhere where my choice of vehicle could endanger me or my wife, I would strongly consider moving on.

E.V. rage is a thing! I dunno who want to tribe-up so much about a damn car, but I've never had so much hostility!! (mostly when I first bought it, but now there are teslas, et al everywhere around here, so I guess the angry bubbas just got tired of it! )

I was able to turn my sound off the day after I purchased my leaf in 2015. If they want it to make a sound they should have put in a 383 Hemi MP3 track. I would let that blast at low speeds. What is getting me now is the e-bikes on the trails. The need some noise!!!

Thanks for all of the great advice. I think I might try just reducing the volume a little by putting some tape over it.

It is a thing. Almost every time I wash my LEAF by hand, I find another key scratch someone has left me as a present :(

Yea, here, too... I don't mind too much, cause I park in the city... so I've already got dings, etc on it... as long as it goes! (and can beat just about anything off the line, LOL)
