A thread for people happy with their Leaf

We went electric early on. Started when we purchased a Prius in 2003. Along the way I picked up a used 1995 Toyota Tercel and began researching and designing all electric drive train for it. The biggest expense was the battery pack and as I was saving up for that Nissan announced the Leaf for...

Replaced the battery in my 2011 (40kWh) Leafspy not working correcly

Hello, More info gathered today. Drove from Portland to Salem (48 miles) and back to the Blink DCFC at Willsonville. Leafspy was reporting ~ 50% SOC but when I plugged in to charge the Blink reported the battery was at 96% and therefore did not charge. Also the battery charge bars in the dash...

Replaced the battery in my 2011 (40kWh) Leafspy not working correcly

Hello fellow leaf brain trust. Yep I did it, took my 2011 leaf to EVRides LLC and had them replace the battery. Battery came out of a wrecked leaf with 500 miles on it. GOM shows 160 mile range but it drove 120 to LBW. 2011 GOM has always been “optimistic” to say the least. Leafspy does not...

    Solution for EV Connect service?

Not in my experience, I have tried everything but the heater will not draw current while plugged into an L2 EVSE. It will work while charging via L3.

    Solution for EV Connect service?

Hello, Have called customer service, posted on their FB page and basically this is how communications have gone. Don Thompson Hello, My 2011 upgraded TCU will stop working in 2 months and I'm wondering what is happening? It is essential that I can preheat the car while plugged into power in the...

    Solution for EV Connect service?

I’m baffled and pissed off that Nissan has not provided a solution for early leaf connectivity going away. I’m still driving my 2011 Leaf and to keep it viable. It is essential that I can preheat the car to melt the ice & snow and maintain maximum battery charge. This time of year with heat /...

    12v Battery Replacement Reminder

Hello, We are still running the original 12V battery. I recently did the same, topped it off with water, charged and load tested. Still holding up fine. I will test it again after we have our first cold spell when old lead acid batteries usually die.

    USB over current U1263

Hello, After clearing the codes the "P31C2 00C0 EV/HEV TCU-273" re-appeared. I inspected the harness down under the RS dash behind the glove box but found nothing wrong. I deleted the codes again and after a week of driving a DTC has not been set. I guess that means I got lucky and it's good...

    USB over current U1263

Hello Brain Trust of Leaf owners, My 2011 leaf coughed up a slew of DTC's yesterday. I think most of these are by products of a bad Apple charge cord shorting down the USB connector. So I aired up the tires and cleared the codes BUT the P31C2 popped back up today. I'm thinking harness or...

Warning: Battery Replacement Cost Increase (now $8500)

Funny, a business that been around for 125 years is badly mismanaged.

    Capacity Loss on 2011-2012 LEAFs

Hello, Well the day finally came. 6 years, 5 months, 21 days and 70111 miles. Lost the 3rd Batt Bar today (currently 9 bars). I'll add the Batt stats to this post tomorrow after it has fully charged. :?

    Seven year report, 2011 LEAF.

Hello, Our 2011 has 10 batt bars showing and ~75 miles on the GOM at full charge. Now that the weather has warmed up I have knocked out a couple of 60 mile days with range to spare, AHr 48.83 SOH 74.44% Hx 52.72% 68k miles 23 QCs 6216 L2s 18 mV cell balance 57*F batt temp 210 GIDs

battery AHr SOH and Hx improved since 3/29/17

Hello, I concur with the previous poster. Since getting the car in March you are prolly seeing the batt capacity ticking up because of warmer temps. I've had mine for 7 years and have plotted the cycle. The efficiency and capacity both make a nice sine wave.

Finally 2018 nisan leaf 150mi range

Hello, I intend to replace the cells in my leaf battery if it is at all possible affordably. I'm past 6 years and 65k miles and I love the car. Don

    2011 Upgrade TCU?

Hello, I had our TCU replaced and it works exactly as before. We drive the car almost daily and have had no battery issues. The charging stations update themselves just as before. Carwings works unless the system is down which happens about as often as before. So nothing unusual to report. Don

How many 2011 and 2012 LEAFs are still on the road today?

Hello, My 11 Leaf just hit 60k miles. The battery is at 10 bars (77%) and it still serves my needs perfectly. I will drive it till the battery hits 50% to 60% then replace the battery. My calculations at 60k miles say I've already saved $5650 over fuel costs for the vehicle it replaced. At our...

2011 Leaf at constant "9 bars" so no help from Nissan

Try to remember, back then leased vehicles were taken away from the owners and crushed (EV1) and a lot of us had no intentions of letting that happen again. I bought mine because of that and because I expect to run this battery down to the nubs then replace it and run it down to the nubs again...

Any other 6 year owners out there?

Hello, 6 years 2 months and 59k miles here in finally sunny PDX, 2 bars down SOH 77% @ 50.89 AH and 19mv of cell variation at 30 GIDs. 60 mile range although the GOM shows 81 @ full charge. Have been very happy with my Leaf. Daily driver with a 25 mile commute. Free charging at work now so this...
