Thanks David. I got a lot out of the meeting, even if the questions tended to derail the presentations. Thanks for bringing SDG&E out in particular, as that seems to be the information that is least available on-line.

It's starting to sink in just how many public L2 chargers will be in San Diego alone! This isn't the here-and-there novelty we saw with the inductive paddles, but swaths of blanketed areas. People are going to see these often, and that will go a long way. The planning and research that went into selecting locations was very interesting, especially the maps.

It's rare someone says "I'm going quickly -- Don't worry, I'll send you these slides.." and then actually DOES, so I was very happy to receive all of them in my mailbox, as promised.

center4energy - have u been notified that the additional $5m in cvrp funds remained intact in the final form of the budget on arnie's desk for signature?

Ya, trying to find where I read about the 500 rental cars to check the exact wording and with who. Did find Enterprise;
"Enterprise received its first Nissan Leaf last week to use as a test model and announced it would receive the first of 500 electric cars in December to begin offering them in Los Angeles; San Diego; San Francisco; Phoenix; Portland, Ore.; Seattle; and Nashville, Tenn

The SDG&E slides explain that the current EV-TOU rates have almost no time variation in rates during the Winter:
Super Off-peak / On / Off
14 / 17 / 16 cents

And Summer just has more-expensive on-peak:
14 / 27 / 16

I'm trying to match this slide with a specific Total Cost rate schedule, and can't find a perfect match.
The EV-TOU rates are:
14 / 18 / 16 (Winter)
14 / 29 / 17 (Summer)
So maybe the slides have old or approximate data?

For anyone who hasn't been paying attention to the experimental rates, here's the slide that puts it in understandable terms:

I'm still waiting to hear what description replaces EV-TOU-3, with regards to the new subtractive metering. It seems like they should have this sorted out by now, if people are going to be installing meters next month.

ECOtality seems on top of things, CCSE has their stuff together, and Nissan is bringing their best game.. SDG&E, not so much.

That's what I don't understand too--isn't this the current EV-TOU-3 rate?
http://www.sdge.com/tm2/pdf/ELEC_ELEC-SCHEDS_EV-TOU-3.pdf

It is basically $0.095 per KWH with only about $0.003 variation between seasons or peaks. Of course, there is the $9.32/mo. meter charge whether you use any energy or not. What is this going to be replaced with in Jan. 2011? Or Jan 2013, after the experiment is over? I realize there is some uncertainty involved on SDG&E's part, since the PUC has to approve their rate plans, but they do seem to be the most opaque partner in this enterprise. :x

That is the current rate schedule for EV-TOU-3, but the SDG&E rep said that the plan is unused and about to be replaced.

It dates back to the 90's, and apparently the Dual Meter Adapters (DMA) were never actually available with a UL Listing, so they can't be installed. (?)

We have no idea what opt-in plan will replace EV-TOU-3.

CPUC actually *adds* transparency, since we can see all the motions and proposals that SDG&E files, and when they are considered by CPUC. They have an excellent web page where you can fish through the documents and resolutions. I haven't found anything at all that suggest SDG&E has filed a new proposal for EV-TOU-3, but I don't fully understand how to search correctly.
