I'd predict that as electric cars start to make a significant market impact, the price of gas will decrease to compete. Right now, gasoline is pretty much without competition, so the only market force to keep the price down is competition among different oil producers - and that's somewhat a stretch. Throw in a decent fraction of all cars sold being electric and I'll bet you see gas prices plummet.

Not exactly what you're looking for. :(
