I have finally managed to figure out how to use the dugout under the hand brake as a coin space.
It is not tight, there are openings wide enough to let coins disappear into the console. It tried to close them with plastic strips - they would slip out and all my coins kept disappearing. Finally, a solution: mounting tape. I used the outdoor one (grey and thinner, rather than indoor white and thicker) I bought at K-Mart. Cut 1/8"-wide strips, and using flat scredriver wedged them in V-shape. Than a little nail job to make the material flush, and voila... Coin box. Really happy with it.
