Hi,
I replaced the instruments and the new odometer reading is to high. i could disconnect the spedometer for a while or find an instrument to adjust it. does anyone know how to do either of these things. old cars had a cable going to the gearbox is it like that?

First of all, it's illegal to replace your odometer (or odometer-containing instrument cluster) by yourself. You have to go to a dealer to get it reprogrammed.

The odometer in the Leaf is updated via the CAN bus and contained on a non-erasable increment-only flash chip. The only way to change the value downwards is to replace that chip or the entire cluster.

I've heard there is a Russian scan tool that can change the odometer reading in the combination meter of ZEO/AZEO models
