Due to sever Chicago Cold I have observed few times that my inside of windshield got all icy. outside no ice.
Then I have to run the defroster for a longer time to melt that ice before driving. I dont want to scrap ICE over my dashboard.

Any suggestion why its forming and how to get rid of it without using Battery. ??

Use your climate control timer?

Too much moisture in the LEAF.

RainX also makes a product you can put on the inside of the windshield.

One possible cause is if you are using recirculation mode. That would trap moisture inside the car. To really cut down on moisture run in fresh mode with the A/C on along with HEAT on. That would use the most power but will dry the air.

Heat up the inside of the car significantly (75 or so), this will pull moisture out of the upholstery and carpeting into the air (warm air has a greater capacity to hold humidity). Then open all the windows and drive for a bit. This will flush all that warm, moist air out of the car, replacing it with cold, dry air. You may have to do this more than once. Even in my very mild climate, this helps greatly with window fogging (and presumably icing).

I park in the garage with the windows cracked to allow the moisture to evaporate when not driving. Snowy shoes melt into the carpet and create a humid micro climate that never vents otherwise.

while on amazone consider http://www.amazon.com/Eva-dry-E-500-Renewable-Wireless-Dehumidifer/dp/B000H0XFD2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1390433914&sr=8-1&keywords=eva-dry" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; as well

It'll pull moisture out of the car without draining the battery (you'll have to plug it in to a socket in the house from time to time).

thanks folks lot of good advise. I will try these. looks like snowy shoes might be bringing the moisture in the car, have rubber mats in the car..
