Heated steering wheel has a mind of it's own...

When I put it on it works well, hot and heats up fast. But a few minutes later it turns off.

I turn it off wait a bit turn it on still nothing. Is it on a timer limit or something?

The "off" is very long on it's on/off cycle. It's a common complaint. It does eventually come back on.

Also, in my experience there seems to be a 30 minute timer after which it will shut off altogether.

It's weird...my old 98 BMW 528 had it, on is on, off is off. And I need it a lot more in this car as I try not to use the heat in the morning...
