I am looking for a J1772 holder for outdoors. I googled and tried to find one but no luck.... I am NOT looking for DIY. Any recommendations?

cheers

So you already have the charging station portion and are just looking for something to keep the J1772 connector off the ground or out of the weather?

Exactly, I did the EVSE Upgrade. The charger it self is indoor but the car is parked outdoors and the cable runs out of my basement through a small opening by the window. I need a holster that I can screw into wood so it is somewhat protected from rain, keep it off the ground etc.

I am in Victoria BC, so lots of rain...

How about a garden hose reel with a cover like this one?

Totally looking for something that is meant for that purpose... I do not care if the cable gets wet, just looking for a holster where i can leave the connector...

just get this
http://www.amazon.com/LNS010LF-Leaf-Charger-Caddy/dp/B00APKBDEM/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1357468401&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=leaf+charger+caddy" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This is on the public domain site. I have printed a few extra in yellow or red ( my free colors). I would be happy to mail you one for postage. They make a good test object using my free filaments. I also have gray but I would have to charge for that color.

You must have the permissions wrong. I get "This thing is not yet public. If this is yours, please login to see it" when I go to that page.

I guess the direct link does not work, If you go to thingiverse.com and search for j1772 the holder will be one of two choices.

The site is totally open. Our lincomatic even has stuff there.

Did you look at the price of that thing?! Here is an older, in-depth thread on the subject...

Here is the holder I printed for ataman. I must stress this is a file I downloaded. It is not my work, I am not yet that talented.

That looks amazing! Now I need to work on the metal bracket that i will build so it protects the whole connector from elements...

What 3D printer is that? Suddenly I really want one ;)

I use two red vinyl-covered squared hooks, screwed into my garage door outer frame. I just loop the cord around them both, and then rest the plug, covered end up, on the straight section of the lower hook, with the corner of the door frame keeping it balanced. It hasn't fallen yet.

It is a Chinese clone of a dual Makerbot replicator. It was $1199 shipped from Amazon. It is called a Flashforge Creator.

It was less than half price and it seems well built. Training and documentation are lacking. Makerbot has a lot of helpful videos.

The prices are astounding! If anyone wants a copy of the original in red or yellow you can have them for $5 plus 5.80 for a USPS flat rate box.

Looks promising.

I think the prices are quite realistic, especially compared to that metal one on amazon. If you find it easy to download other people's work, print it and give it away, that is fine. Just remember that the thingiverse website still has a licence on the files you download. In this case, not for commercial use. Which means you can't sell it without expressed permission from the author.

Yeah, I thought it was a good price. Especially pairing it with an $800 EVSE. That's the real gouging. Haha. I ordered mine Friday.

I decided against one of the plastic 'dock type' holders because they don't lock to the handle. That, combined with the 90 degree angle (straight out from the wall) means a significant risk of the plug falling and, in my case, hitting concrete. I'm sticking with the hooks until I come up with something better.

Looks like these ones lock and are angled down. Hell, they even have slots for every single pin.
