I am considering purchasing a 2020 Nissan Leaf with a 40kW battery. I've already test-driven the car, and I loved the experience—it's my first time driving an electric vehicle, and I was pleasantly surprised. Additionally, the price is very attractive.

However, I have some concerns. I've read on various forums and reviews that Nissan Leafs lack efficient cooling and may not perform well in hot climates. Since I live in an area where temperatures can reach 45°C (113°F) for several weeks, I'm worried about potential issues.

Should I consider other options?

Personally, I wouldn't buy a Leaf if operating it in a hot climate. A Chevy Bolt might be an alternative for around the same price.

I like the price on the Subaru EV that Hertz is running a fire sale on if you can swing it.

I too, live where it is regularly 113 or more. Even when temps are as high as 118 my battery temperature indicator is at a max of 80%, before the first red dot. Like mentioned above, the fast charging is what really heats up the battery.
