You have to be really loyal to the brand to pick up one of these.
Lets see, somewhat poor range in these times, not particularly cheap, and not a lot else going for it. Why people didn't flock to it I have no idea  Build a car people want and they'll flock to it. Case in point my Rav-4 Prime I've had on order for more than 2-years! Lots of people out looking for EVs and PHEVs, just not much selection and anything decent has a year's waiting list......cwerdna said:US: Mazda MX-30 Sales Halted At Just 8 Units In Q3 2022
After sales of the last several units in July, no more sales were reported in August and September.

"It's difficult to say whether the Mazda MX-30 will return as a 2023 model year and potentially with improved specs or a range-extender option (EREV)."

Preliminary guidance from the Internal Revenue Service addresses two important issues regarding vehicles purchased in 2022:
If you entered into a written binding contract to purchase a new qualifying electric vehicle before August 16, 2022, but do not take possession of the vehicle until on or after August 16, 2022, (for example, because the vehicle has not been delivered), you may claim the EV credit based on the rules that were in effect before August 16, 2022.
If you purchase and take possession of a qualifying electric vehicle between August 16, 2022 and December 31, 2022, final assembly of the vehicle had to be completed in North America, otherwise the same rules in effect prior to the enactment of the Inflation Reduction Act apply (including those involving the manufacturing caps on vehicles sold).

The 2023+ rules take effect from Jan 1, 2023. The cars ordered in 2022 fall under the transition clause

23 June 2023
Mazda Motor has started mass production of the European model of the MAZDA MX-30 e-SKYACTIV R-EV at Ujina Plant No. 1 in Hiroshima City..." but it seems we in the US will never get it.
An article pointed out Mazda's only sold/leased 66 MX-30 year to date in the US. Confirmed at https://news.mazdausa.com/2023-07-03-Mazda-Reports-June-Sales-Results.
