If you guys are having problems with getting your HOV stickers (or tags) stolen, you can try this.
After mounting the sticker take a single edge razor blade and cut it carefully, making a X or tic-tac-toe. They can steal your sticker if they want, but they get it in 9 pieces.

How about just writing your license plate number on the front bumper with some marker that's washable with alcohol or on top of the protector!?

Would that be illegal?

or try something like this...

Found another option that I like better because it offers more mounting options and $15 cheaper then another tow hook solution

I haven't ordered it yet. I just got reply from them that they don't have kit specific for Leaf. I might take measurements and send it to them to see if I could get existing kit that would fit.

Interesting... why didn't Nissan just put another tow-hook-like cover plate in the middle of the bumper, so that cover could be popped off, so a mounting plates could simply be attached in the middle of the bumper instead of forcing every dealer to drill holes in the bumper of every car they sell?

What is the point of this, exactly?

The idea is not have any holes drilled into your bumper and also the front license plate frame takes away the look of the car.
I considered the "no front plate" option for the LEAF. I decided against it. I had no front plate on my previous car. (Texas requires a front plate.) Initially, it was great. After a while, the bumper started collecting rock chips. A dinged bumper without a plate doesn't look all that much better than dinged bumper with a plate!

The thing to consider is what color will show when you get rock chips. If a light blue bumpber shows black when it gets dinged, a bunch of black pock marks wouldn't look all that hot.

Looks interesting and fun but for $160 they really need to put up a youtube video of it cause it looks a bit rinkydink to me. I found some videos on youtube for fun.

Its a nice idea to avoid drilling sleek sexy front bumpers, but without a youtube video of it on sellers site itself of it running on some nice cars its way to expensive to buy on a whim. Is there a reason we have to search youtube to find it in action?

One from an alternate company that seems like it has a stronger motor with less whining sound.

RikiTiki

p.s.
And if we're really into our EV's we could get 3 of those plate holders and put 3 plates on the front
that u could pop up on command to read "screw" "u gas" "stations", lol, or something for fun in the states that dont require legit front plates. lol. =)

I used velcro from Home Depot to attach my front license plate holder to my BMW ("industrial" strength). It works very well and has not come off in automatic car washes.

Ooh! I like that! But you only have 7" of flat depth between the lip and a bulge in the underbelly pan. And that pan is also pretty flimsy.
Here's a better install - though tougher to do:
