Yes. Either a 120lb composite 6000psi 10gallon accumulator for a few thousand dollars or a 400lb steel 20 gallon 3,000psi accumulator for perhaps less than $1,000 used on eBay, not including freight. Although to stop a Leaf from 50-60mph, a 5 gallon 72lb composite or a 10 gallon 200lb steel accumulator should be just about enough. The accumulator would be the heaviest part. The motor/pump and rest isn't much in comparison.
It would be cool to put a 72lb composite accumulator in the trunk and a variable/reversible displacement hydraulic motor on each rear wheel. Violà! 70% efficient regenerative braking with included 4WD!
I can dream can't I?
