Noise under dash

I always have the radio on, so I didn't notice this previously. There is a noise under the dash, I would describe it as like a fan or a tiny motor. It is getting hot now in Tucson, but since I cannot hear it with the radio on it is possible it has been extant since I got the car in January. I hear the noise with CC off. Any ideas?

How fast are you going when you hear the noise, or is it all the time?

It could be air passing over the car. I know at high speeds you do get the whining noise. If it really bothers you I bet a dealership would take a look at it. May fall under warranty...

I hear it all the time, even while in Park. I do not hear it over 35 mph due to road noise. I lifted the hood and it definitely sounds like a fan in the rear of the motor compartment. When I power the car off it continues for 2-3 seconds and then stops. I don't hear it with the radio on, which it always is, and the car runs fine so I chose just not too worry about it.

I don't know. I'm sorta the opposite of you since I NEVER turn on the radio. I hear that pump whenever the car is turned on. It's pretty quiet, really.

AFAIK, the LEAF only had 3 fans.

-Climate control blower (only on when climate control enabled)
-Radiator fan (only on during or immediately after charging for a while, or when AC is on).
-Stereo head unit fan (only on when the head unit is doing something, shuts off when in standby or idle)

Push and leave your finger on the brightness button until the stereo head unit enters standby. Listen for the noise. Gone? My guess is it's the head unit fan.

Thanks, if you hear it all the time as well I am not concerned. It is quiet, it is just that I do not remember having the noise with my previous 2011 SL.
