This is sort of a niche topic, but may be of some interest to the people (re)building packs who don't already have a donor pack to hack. For the past couple years, it was fairly simple to acquire a LEAF LBC/BMS on eBay for about $50-60. For a piece of hardware that's certified (somewhere) for 400V/96S, and features integrated CAN, balancing, pairing, temperature sensing, and voltage/charge monitoring on all cells, it was a real deal. That supply seems to now be exhausted.

Today, the lowest online price for Leaf BMS/LBC modules is around $350. If anyone is building "feature complete" aftermarket packs, they'll need to find alternative sources (maybe get in touch with Calsonic Kansei Corp) or pay fairly extravagant factory prices.
