When I was parking yesterday evening outside a public event, I noticed another Glacier Pearl LEAF, with an empty parking spot next to it, so of course I parked along side.

As I was leaving, I got to meet the other LEAF owner, and was just delighted to discover that it was Congressional candidate Jay Chen, an incredibly dynamic young school board trustee who is running in one of the newly reconfigured California Assembly Districts.

Jay is the kind of candidate I love to support - smart, extraordinarily well educated, yet grounded in his local community where he does one of the truly thankless public service jobs - serving as a trustee of the local school district.

It's a tough district for a Democrat to run in, but Jay has a strong following among the 60,000 Asian voters in the district, who tend to have weak partisan leaning even when they are registered as Republicans. Jay is running against a cave man of an Orange County Republican who publicly decries "multi-culturalism" http://videocafe.crooksandliars.com/scarce/hate-comes-orange-county and thumps the drums for yet another war in the Middle East.

I'm going to be chipping in to help his campaign by clicking on the Donate link at http://blog.electjaychen.com/.

Just think how cool it would be to have a LEAF owner in Congress.

Janice Hahn, cong from LA harbor area, drives a Leaf.
Her battle is in the primary with another--lesser light--democrat.

It is a very very tough road for a Dem in most of OC and that district, before redistricting, went 2-1 for the incumbent--knuckledrager Ed Royce.
there is some considerable Chinese population in the new north end of the district, but it would seem to be a very difficult road for Chen.

My suggestion--if you want to keep the Leaf in Congress, send Hahn some turkee.

Done.

I'm sorry but I've had dealings with Janice Hahn and seen her in action, and I could not vote for her regardless of what she drove or what party she was affiliated with. Kenneth Hahn must be rolling over in his grave!
