Is it possible to read of the climate temperatur and fan settings via the databusses?

It would be great if this android app could show this on it's screen. I'm playing with the idea of getting rid of the stock screen, and putting a screen with android.
Then install this android application on the replacement screen. if I could get the climate settings read off at the screen, it would be a great replacement.

Carwings is perhaps integrated in the stock nav screen. I'm not sure about that. however I see http://www.openvehicles.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; will perhaps in the future be a carwingsreplacement for nissan leaf.

Version 0.24g-FS is up on dropbox for testing.

There is now a Screen 4 which is a work-in-progress version of a new summary screen based on FalconFour's example screen. For now there is only a Portrait version. Temperature section is not done yet.

Features
* New distance to empty layout
* New tri-bar graph showing SOC, 'Gids and DTE with starting value indicators.
* If Bluetooth is not enabled then the "Select OBDII" menu item is removed.

The distance to empty bar graph is in units of miles or km with a max of 100 miles or 160 km.

When you reset the COUNTER the markers will also reset. Until you save new data, which will now save the starting SOC value, the starting SOC value will be calculated based on starting energy.

This screen should rescale and the fonts should adjust. If you see a problem go to Setting/System and tell me what see for screen size, scale and dpi. Also take a screen shot so I can see what looks bad.

This is how it looks on the Kyocera Event.

Ok, I have been following this thread very closely and rarely do I miss information, however it seems I lost something, I checked the drop box, the wiki, and I've searched the thread, and I cannot find anywhere to download the test versions (currently Version 0.24g-FS)

There WAS a link on the first post, but now its gone, what did I miss?
I am looking forward to testing a version that can access the EV canbus as I have installed a switch on my OBD2 scanner.

edit: ok, Turbo3 sorted me out.
for anyone else looking for the same info as I was, the beta is somewhat closed, you need to PM Turbo3 for the password to participate in beta testing.

this has come up before, but we don't know the canbus codes for reading ambient temperature.... yet.

Comments on 0.24g-FS:

--Layout is visually pleasing and easier to read than screen 3
--I like the plus and minus buttons to changes efficiency
--counter button looks good a well

Suggestions:

--would very much like a way to put 'Gid% as the big number up top (don't care as much about SOC%, although I do like to see it); perhaps tapping the ruler could cycle between SOC% and 'Gid% as the big number up top?
--for temperature, I think keeping the black numbers (much easier to read) with perhaps a thermometer with bar of various heights (and colors?) to graphically indicate where one is on the temperature scale?

Very, very nice. I especially like the tri-bar readout. Shows you the relationship between the three values at a glance. Brilliant!

A couple more comments:

--you can make the top big number cycle between SOC%, 'Gids and 'Gids% so everyone can have it their way
--I would like to see a little button in the temperature section that said "Max" and when pressed cycled between that and "Avg" and "Min" so you can tell at a glance which temperature you are looking at

Please, no cycling numbers without an option to turn it off. I prefer to just choose which readout gets the big numbers at the top.

If you read my previous post, the cycling only takes place when you tap the screen. So, you will be able to choose--you can have it your way.

v24g:
Screen 4 is great.
Having the 3 bars next to each other facilitates making
comparisons at-a-glance (much easier) .

I like the suggestion to tap the big value at the top to get it to
step to the next value, and would add the high-precision SOC
to the list.

Presumably GIDs would replace 'Gids when available?
Hiwever, for learning more about 'Gids, and how well
they are matching the real GIDs, it would be nice to see
both values on the (or some) screen.

Removing the OBDII menu item is not so good, since it is rare,
and means the Setup is no longer in a fixed location.
Perhaps better to change the font to gray, or use
"No BT", and perhaps not respond, or respond differently?
A fixed location for the menu items makes operation
much easier (IMO).

If there is an apostrophe before Gids, I do not see it.
However, using GIDs (or GID) for the original, and Gids (or
Gid) for the calculated estimate might be a solution.

When scaling the screen, be sure to scale for the dimension that is
least expanded, since one dimension might have 2x more pixels,
but the other might have only 1.8x mire, due to a different screen
aspect ratio.

Maybe there is a better word for the COUNTER button, perhaps RESET?

I think the value 4812 for the shunt bits should be made the default,
so that new users can see the (most likely) "correct" Shunt-On highlights.

However, keeping the bit-order display (and setting) for now is good,
while we observe more data. The BMS seems to do some "strange and
interesting" things with the shunts, often turning on groups of 4, and
often turning shunts on for only a few seconds. I have seen all off,
one or two isolated cells On, and almost all On.

v24 Histogram / Bars scaling:

The histogram, when data will not fit into the graph, is scaled
differently than the Bars. More consistent, and easier to use
the same scaling and axis labels as the Bar chart screen?

The first value on the histogram axis is adjusted to the first data
place, and now the left axis, which gives it an odd value.

I had hoped to see the scale "slide" only if/when necessary
to keep all the data on the graph, if possible, and only slide
enough to keep the data on the graph, and still use n.nn labels.

Instead, while driving, the axis changes, and I could not
see the numbers well enough to determine what was happening,
but the horizontal rule lines across the Bar graph were moving
positions, indicating some king of re-scaling was going on,
even when the data did not appear to be near the top or bottom,
although maybe the re-scaling was hiding that there were data extremes?

It almost seemed that it was trying to keep the data "centered"?

I really wanted to see the histogram data slide left and right,
and the Bar data grow taller and get shorter as I Regen and
Accelerate... please.

When scrolling the Settings page on the Kyocera Event,
things work well. Hiwever, on the Vizio Android tablet
(VTAB1008, with v3.2.1 OS), the "focus" automatically
moves to the highest data-entry field on the screen.

This new focus sets the text-entry cursor in the field,
and that apparently causes the virtual keyboard to
pop up, covering the bottom 40% of the screen.
Annoying, and not critical, but... annoying! :D

A strangeness, noticed while running v24g:

Edit: The same thing happens on the Event.

With the Vizio (I will check the Event), in portrait mode,
I start the app, see the Bars, tap menu and settings, then rotate
counter-clockwise 90 degrees to landscape, tap return to exit
settings, rotate back to portrait mode, and tap return to
get the exit dialog, tap Yes to exit, and...

the screen goes blank as if it is going to exit, but then the
app re-appears! Then, I can tap return again to get the exit
dialog, and tap Yes to exit normally.

If I do not rotate the screen over and back in settings, but just
enter and exit settings, then rotate over and back while on
screen 1, it exits normally.

Further testing of rotating Settings:

One can start from either landscape or portrait mode.

One rotate of Settings is enough to cause the problem.
It is not necessary to rotate over and back.

This full-screen version v24g...

No longer has any way to check the System Status bar,
that was available in Settings, a nice place to see it.

Could we have that back, please?
Notification bar is still there at the top of the Settings menu. Always has been.

Please provide screenshot that shows the settings menu without the notification bar.

You, as usual, are correct.
Sorry, false alarm.
The System Status bar is there on the Event.

The Vizio, with v3.2.1 of the OS, apparently does not have
a similar Status Bar, because it is included as part of the
on-screen Return, Home, and Menu keys.

In the original v2.x.x Android OS for this device, they used the
hardware Return, Home, and Menu buttons, but the update to
v3.2.1 quit using them, for some reason. N! Maybe they were
too easily touched by the fingers holding the tablet?

Cheers, Gary

Is this something new with 0.24g? Is it going to the Shunts field?
Screenshot would help me understand.

I just wanted to check if the possibility to read "true" Gids from the EV-CAN is going to be implemented soon?
I have tested this function but it will not be released until middle of June.
Amazing, excellent, thanks for all this work!

This question is obviously not at all relevant for anyone that uses Android as their phone but for those who have a second Android device: What's your strategy for battery life?

It seems like my trips aren't long enough to charge the phone from empty and I've left it on a couple times (With the screen on). I'm guessing there isn't a way to get the phone to automatically turn on when it has power from USB but maybe there is a software way to have it turn off when it no longer has power?

A friend suggests airplane mode + bluetooth enabled would be good.
