Window sealant outside A pillar cover

For what it's worth, I have a 2008 Versa (2nd year on sale in the US) and there is something similar on the hatch of mine, although done with far less care than what you have. Presumably a fix for a rattle or leak in the hatch area found during final quality testing, and likely part of the process for hatchbacks Nissan sells (rather than something LEAF-specific.)
