Battery capacity is measured in kWh, not "kw". Don't know what define as "gen 2".

Are you in the US? Adding something useful to your location field would help.

Last page of https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10171223-0001.pdf has replacement part numbers for 24 kWh packs depending on year/other factors.

I believe the answer is no and won't have time to research it today. https://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=21997 might help, esp. posts from Cor and a few other folks in there.

Very helpful links! Thanks! Wasn’t sure if I’d need this

What the OP is referring to as Gen II is what we call Gen 1.5 - the 2013-2016 24kwh pack. Even though the chemistry was changed in April of 2013, the actual case seems to have been changed with the other modifications from the beginning of 2013. Not that I would recommend using an early 2013 pack as a replacement! As I understand it, an adapter kit from Nissan is required, and the lack of a battery heater in the 2011 is a further complication.

Yes, with a CAN-bridge to translate the newer style communication format, it is possible to swap in the newer 24kWh pack into the older Leaf (AZE0 pack into ZE0) https://dalasevrepair.fi/can-bridges/
