12v battery in 2018 same as older?

My 2018 Leaf 12v battery is dying. Can't find replacement on Maui.

Anyone know, is it the same as 2017 12v battery?

I'm pretty sure the 2017 Leaf used a group 51R battery. You can ask around for that battery to see if you can find one locally. Costco probably has them. Also, I'd say a 2018 battery should still be under warranty. The dealer or an auto store that sells batteries should replace it for free or at a very steep discount. Finally, AGM batteries last a lot longer in a Leaf although they are quite a bit more expensive. If you search the forum you will find tons of information about 12V battery replacements.

Just eyeballing it, the battery in my 2018 looks about the same size, but I'm not p[positive it isn't a little bigger. Let me try something... ok, when I put 2018 leaf into Auto Zone and look for a 12 volt battery, I get 51R as the result. It is the same size battery, or at least the battery box is for a 51R, which is the same as the earlier Leafs.
