Setec EV Siphon

Sat Sep 26, 2020 10:36 pm

I searched and did not find anything. Just wondering if anyone has used the Setec EV Siphon 3KW inverter to pull power from the Leaf Chademo port for powering house or other devices. Here in California where we are getting used to the grid going down it seems like a reasonable tool for keeping the fridge and a few other things running when the grid is not. Thanks.

No, but what year of Leaf do you have?

V2G/V2H is blocked in at least the first few model years of US Leafs. See ... 27#p576427.

$3450 and only works on '13 and on Leafs(not '11 and '12 as you said) and the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV of all vehicles, no other vehicles including other ones using the Chademo standard.
"Product Overview

The Setec Power device is a 3000 watt inverter that can communicate to an EV battery via the CHAdeMO V2H protocol. The Vehicle to Home (V2H) protocol with the CHAdeMO standard allows discharging from an EV battery, turning the vehicle into a mobile generator. This Vehicle to Load (V2L) device enables mobile backup power anywhere. This is a perfect solution for power in a blackout, especially for renters that cannot install a full V2H system.

It is compatible with any Nissan LEAF (model year 2013 or newer) or Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV with the CHAdeMO inlet.

The system weighs 33lbs and can easily be carried using the handle"
Interesting looking device but probably not in my future.

Just get a regular generator.
Powering your house with a leaf will give you a dead car and no lights.
