I guess that means that the current "Leaf Battery" app can't take advantage of this modification?bradbissell wrote:So with the future EV-CAN capable app and modified ELM, we will get GIDs and everything on the CAR-CAN bus?
I wouldn't recommend it. If you buy the Simvalley Vgate ($18 from Amazon), you can easily modify (has 4 removable screws) it to use switched Power (pin 16 to 8).garsh wrote:I have no idea if this one is any good. Meritline generally sells cheap, Chinese-made stuff.
The price is pretty good if someone wants to try it.

There's no reason to drill any holes. There are four phillips screws to take out. I happened to have a screwdriver that just fit the holes so I just punched it threw the label and unscrewed it. It was a piece of cake!michapok wrote:I'm having a heck of a time opening up the Vgate ELM327 to do the switched 12V mod. I drilled the four holes on the case but there don't seem to be any screws I can access. There's also a round black rubbery thing on the bottom of the unit that seems to be missing from the pictures on this site. If you look on Amazon one of the pictures shows this while the others show a modded one without it. Anyone have any tips on how to get it open?
