July 27 Nissan email: the Nissan LEAF: get ready to order

What reservation number are you Mitch? Unless you've put down your $40k for a Signature or are a very early R number (I'm R77) I really doubt you're gonna see a Model S in your driveway before late 2012...and that's if everything goes perfectly with the new plant, testing, building...

And that'll actually work out fine. I should have a better idea when the Model S will be available and what my financial situation will be. Would be nice to sell the Prius, buy both a Leaf and the Model S and keep our Highlander Hybrid for occasional use when needed. We'd commute gas free...

nope...I have no charger assessment scheduled and don't expect to for almost a year, but got the invite. Did you check for that e-mail and the tiny little link you have to click?? It's not easy to find.

Holy cow...I totally missed the panelist invite in that email...thought it was just more self promotion (which it mostly was). Thanks for posting up, even a day later I still got in.

It's 40-80% on the Prius SOC. But as I point out above, whether it's impractical or not, I think the general public is going to demand a good, long term, warranty on the battery.

You and I are not the issue...Joe public...those who do not study this subject or frequent forums or watch movies and read books about the subject are not the ones who'll demand the 8/100k. They'll see the numbers, compare range, compare cost, worry about that laptop or cell phone who's battery...

Let me clarify...the engineers and builders certainly built a fine vehicle in the EV1 (from reports, not personal experience), but GM wanted it to fail, IMO. I don't believe they wanted nor saw a future in EVs but felt they must comply by law.

Here's the bottom line, Nissan, if you're listening. The car MUST succeed as far as sales and customer satisfaction. You can't withstand it being a flop. Thus, you have to match the 8/100k warranty on the battery and key components (inverter, motor). You 'should' offer a battery replacement...

I agree with you in part, but I think the target audiences for the two vehicles have a LOT of overlap and, therefore, some comparison is necessary. If someone wants an EV, but knows they'll only get a 5 year warranty and a range of 70 miles at the end of that warranty and for a couple thousand...

First Responders prepare for electric cars

The training should consist of the following: 1)you don't have to worry about gas burning/exploding any more. 2)Don't cut any orange cables or through the middle of the floorboard. 3)Let's go out for a beer!

Chelsea Sexton picking up Leaf for the day

Chelsea Sextonhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chelsea_Sexton, for the uninitiated, is a major EV advocate and was involved in the "Who Killed the Electric Car" project and the upcoming "Revenge of the Electric Car". She posted on her FB page today a photo of the Leaf she's picking up for a day...
