Using clone ELM327 Bluetooth OBDII adapter with Leaf

I should add that I haven't measured the current of my ELM. I am going on what is published for it. Mine is a knock-off from EBay. I will measure my car's dark current with and without the ELM 327. BTW, my 2013 Leaf makes a quiet "cluck" sound when 1st driving forward. It does not make this...

Using clone ELM327 Bluetooth OBDII adapter with Leaf

I don't know the spec for the Leaf's total dark current. I have designed and manufactured equipment for Ford. Their spec was "less than 1 mA for an *individual* component". A 1.2 AH draw per day for a single device is excessive. Take a battery that has aged and has perhaps 25% of its...

Using clone ELM327 Bluetooth OBDII adapter with Leaf

Warning: The original ELM 327 draws 50 mA even when the car is turned off. this is 100x the maximum "dark" current for a device in the car. This is 1.2 AH per 24 hours. I left my car sitting for a week and it killed the battery. Note that the leaf battery is pretty small.

Carwings reporting my house as a public charge station!??

A few days ago, I was showing someone how to find a charge station from the Leaf's dash. I was shocked to find my own home listed! It did not give an address, just the street name. Navigation took me right to my home. There are only a few people that live on this street, I know them, there...

    2013 Leaf heater problems

Yes, that is how my car behaves. Also, no heat during defrost as the heat pump is used for defrost and the PTC element for heat. The dealer said that a replacement PTC heater won't be available until mid-January.

    2013 Leaf heater problems

Oops, I thought the subject was enough. The heater produces little heat. The resistive portion of the heater has failed. The heat pump still works, but produces little heat and no heat in defrost mode. BTW, "PTC heater" means "positive temperature coefficient heater". A resistor which has...

    2013 Leaf heater problems

I don't understand the logic above. For others that have similar problems, the dealer found that the car's "PTC heater" has failed and that they won't be available until mid January. -Robert

    2013 SL heater not working

I posted this in the "Problems/troubleshooting", but am posting here as well. The winter climate here is typically 30-40F at this time of year. When the car was new, I could see power consumption rise to about 3-4KW, then slowly drop as the car warmed. Now it exhibits this behavior: Power...

    2013 Leaf heater problems

The winter climate here is typically 30-40F. When the car was new, I could see power consumption rise to about 3-4KW, then slowly drop as the car warmed. Now it exhibits this behavior: Power consumption varies between zero and .7kW. When at zero, I can turn off the car, back on again and it...

A friend just ordered a Leaf SV, no Bose audio. He told me he ordered the rvc option. I did not know this option was available for the SV. Can someone shed some light on this? Thanks.

1st high output L2 "charging station" on the..

EVSEs, such as the Clipper Creek CS-60 refer to the service rating. 60 amps. Code requires a breaker sized to 125% of the maximum continuous draw, so the CS-60 can deliver up to 48 amps or 11.5KW to the vehicle.

Is it ok to hookup a 25A (20A conti) EVSE to 40A breaker?

No, use the heavy gauge wire, but use a 25A breaker.
