I just got a call from Nissan saying that I can order my Leaf on Monday.

I immediately phoned my local dealer but they did not know anything about a leaf.

What will the process be? If I order on-line how do I select a dealer?

You already have a certified Leaf dealer selected by default. Log on to your account and click on the Find a Dealer link at the bottom of the page and you should be able to select whichever certified Leaf dealer you want. You can try to work out a set price with a dealer before Monday and then select that dealer on your account.

Congrats!

Log into your account at http://www.nissanusa.com/leaf-electric-car/. From there, you can set your preferred dealer and "Request a Quote" from your preferred dealer. After your dealer sends you a quote, you'll get an email notification and you'll see it in your dashboard.

You can either accept it and place the order or reject it. Either work with the dealer to get an acceptable quote or change your preferred dealer and start over.

I'd recommend that you talk to dealers before you RAQ because you'll have to wait a day if you change your preferred dealer after rejecting a RAQ.

I don't think that it is going to happen on Monday. I was thinking about getting up at midnight to place my order but all Nissan dealers within a 100 mile radius are closed on Sunday. When I phoned my local Nissan dealer on Friday I needed to speak to 4 people before I got someone on the phone who knew what a leaf was and that person said that the dealer has nothing to do with it and that everything happens on-line.

It probably will be a few days before you can figure out what the 2012 models are going for. I can not even find a price list anywhere. The nissan leaf web site only shows the 2011 model. I had assumed that it is the 2012 model i can order on Monday but now I am not entry sure.

I'm curious as I've been 'pre-registered' since the beginning of online Nissan LEAF site registration and did not 'get a call from Nissan' nor email or anything alerting me of this fact (am away from home on vacation but can check VM online as well as email) -- how exactly did Nissan contact you?

Other than a notice on the online site that the 2011 is sold out there really isn't anything really 'new' to see -- I did however notice that they showed McGrath Nissan (in Elgin, IL - 847-888-2030) as the only 'certified' Nissan LEAF dealer within 100 miles of my home zip code --- quite possibly the ONLY one in NW 'burbs and/or Chicago itself ??? In any case I would suggest you possibly contact them if you aren't getting good info from the one you already called. Right now I'm literally on the fence as I know that I can also order tomorrow (my online resv still says 4/20/10, part of the original group showing interest) but am a bit miffed by the price increase for the '12's over what '11's cost for the same options. I also think my wife is getting a bit of cold feet over the whole range issue (would always be nice if the LEAF went as far as a comparable ICE but we're not there yet) so will be literally sleeping on it tonight -- I'm not sure how many actual cars that Nissan will offer against the pre-reg's but at least PR wise they fee that they can readily fufill them.

I got a call out of the blue from Toyota saying that on Monday I will be receiving an e-mail with details on how to order. I reserved my leaf on 5/28.

There seem to be a number of leaf certified dealers in Chicago. My closest one is Mid city Nissan although on Friday they did not appear to ever heard of a Leaf. I think I am going to select them as my dealer Monday morning and see what is going to happen.

The price increase is a shame but you get a heated battery pack, heated steering wheel and seats and the level 3 charger port. Might not justified the price increase completely but it is not if there are many alternatives around.

From Toyota ?

Sorry been thinking for years about buying a Toyota Prius plug in but it never materialized until the idea became obsolete with the leaf. I meant a call from Nissan.

I am so excited about tomorrow even though it probably will be 6 months till delivery.

When I logged on to the Nissan website the option to schedule home assessment was enabled. When I complete that form and select next I get an error message saying "Oops! We are sorry, we are not servicing your geographical location as of now. Please revisit again.".

Oops indeed.

I just spoke to the leaf specialist at Mid City Nissan in Chicago. She told me that they have not received any pricing yet from Nissan so they are not able to talk about any quotes.

I was asking if they would be interested in offering a discount to try to attract a large number of the order in Chicago. She said that the owner is meeting with other Nissan dealer owners to come to an agreement on price.

Is that legal?

No - but then, in Chicago, who knows ;-)

It`s called price fixing and clearly violates Federal anti trust laws.
I think the Phoenix area people ran into a similar thing, where none of the local dealers would budge on MSRP, prompting several folks to buy out of state and pay to have their cars shipped.

I have my quote.
$37805 for the 2012 SL with protection package, floor and cargo mats, splash guards and cargo nets.

This is the price I see on the dashboard. I am trying to find out if there will be any fees charged on top of this like destination charges or dealer fees.

The quote is from Martin Nissan in Skokie, IL.

It actually says in the quote that destination fees are not included. Just need to check on processing fee then.

Hello Paul, Next you will have to get the charging station home assesment done. Nissan will contact you to set up an appointment. Once that is clear, we can proceed. Thank you and look forward to taking care of you and your New LEAF Olga Soltysiak Martin Nissan 847-965-3460

$37,805 transaction price
this price includes:
2012 Nissan LEAF™ SL trim
blue ocean
no options selected
accessories added:
protection package
floor and cargo mats
splash guards
cargo net
Cost of the home installation dock, processing fees, tax title license, destination & handling charges are not included. The value of any trade-ins will be determined and applied at a later date.

Good for you! -- keep in mind (not sure if you are checking all the threads on the forum) that you can get a 10% rebate back from IL EPA of full MSRP but only if you buy it and not lease it -- so the car could end up 'costing' you (before taxes, reg, doc and destination fees) $26,524.50 ($3,780 IL rebate + $7,500 fed tax credit) -- waiting for a call back from McGrath Nissan in Elgin
