So anyway, YEAH, quote on the way. Leaf site said that I should have it tomorrow, by knowing the high slime factor for dealers here in the Miami area, I wouldn't be surprised if it was longer. First quote I'm getting is from Morone Nissan of Miami.

Anyone else get a price yet?

From Juan Perez? He's who has been the contact for us at Maroone. As of yesterday he wasn't able to give me pricing. It will be interesting to hear what they tell you.

Just a note on price using the 2011 as an example (not the more expensive 2012). There was about $2100 between the Sticker price and the Dealer price (not the bogus Factory Invoice). So if you did get a $1000 off the dealer would make out very well and of course they will also make money on Doc Fees (one dealer her in SoFLA was trying to charge $999!) floor mats and anything else they can think of. So don't feel bad about hammering down a deal. Not like they have anything invested in the car sitting on the lot. It is a real painless deal for them.

I spoke to Mitchell Lasowitz at Maroone Delray this evening after making them my first quote request. It sounded like they were still working through understanding the process, but he assured me they would not be charging over MSRP. They would however charge their "customary" $599 dealer service fee.

Hmmm....Delray is approx. 66 miles from my house. Certainly within the 100 mile range. :D

In this heat and traveling on the Highway! It would be close I think. Hate to get stranded you very first trip.

Oh - you can definitely make 66 miles. A/C is not a big drain - just drive sensibly on the highway.

"just drive sensibly on the highway"... ROFL, your not from around these parts are you. The only sensible way to drive here is to stay off the road. You could test the top speed of the Leaf on I-95 and still have someone pass you.

OK, my "order your Leaf" is awake in my dashboard. My local
dealer is still not showing "certified". How would a dealer give
me a quote on my trade-in with a three month wait to deliver?

As to driving the highway... the closer you get to
Miami, the more frantic the pace, the less patient the drivers.

the dealer needs to become certified NOW
or find another dealer, my recomendation is find another dealer that is certified

also dont clog up your quote with a trade, you will be able to trade or sell your car to them when delivery time comes

Just check either finance or lease box and no trade in keep it simple

worst case you can sell your car to carmax instead of trading at the nissan store(it is easy)

Nah, its flat as a pancake.. and unlike LA you can actually drive at 55mph if you want to. Standing water on the road after rain will decrease your range, so try to get the traveling done before the afternoon thunderstorms.

So my Nissan Leaf "my account" page (I guess that is what people refer to as the dashboard) says "price request submitted" under the "order your leaf" section. I had a call from the dealer last night and they said they would be getting the quote to me... I'm wondering though does the dealer quote come back through the dashboard or directly to me via email from the dealer? Assuming they quote me the MSRP price shouldn't I try other dealers and see if they will beat it? Or for that matter if I don't like the dealer quote, can I try negotiating a lower price from them? I could say for example, I want $1000 off MSRP... they might tell me forget it, I won't be able to get that price from any dealer, but my response would be "maybe I have to pay MSRP, but I'm not going to pay it to you!"

Also how long do I have to fool around with this? I assume every day pushes me further back in the line, but I don't really car if it takes an extra month or two to get the car.

This is truly disappointing. The dealers here have no clue! I am
sending email after email and getting answers like "next year"
"tsunami wait", "no lease information" ... There is not one dealer
READY to give me a quote.....

The first email response I had from Maroone asked me if I would be interested in a certified preowned car.

Anyone in the West Palm area who finds a better deal in Miami or vice versa (no pun) is welcome to stop by my house in Boca and charge up on the way home. I'm pretty close to 95 and the turnpike. I'll have a 220 twist lock connector ala Ingineer installed by then but depending on the timing may not have the upgraded unit on hand.

dont send emails!

get on the phone with any certified dealer and find out who took the online training.
it could be the internet specialist but call them dont email. one of the salespeople will have taken the tests and have access, if not move on to the next dealership quickly

dont take no for an answer they need to figure out how to do this its not hard!

Nissan really need to fix this by doing one simple thing: provide a contact name and number next to the certified dealerships, if there are several salespeople who are fully tested then they all get named

CS should have this list but they dont , I asked

they only know what stores are certified and which ones are not

but they dont have trainig details within the store down to the salespeople

Clueless dealers is a nice way to put it. I got my first response for the quote I submitted basically asking me to send all the info that was on the quote.

"Good morning. Welcome to the Maroone Internet Department, and thank you for allowing me to help you. In order to quickly provide you with accurate information and pricing, please let me know more about your needs:

- Which equipment and options are you looking for on the Nissan Leaf?
- Which exterior and interior colors do you prefer?
- Do you plan to pay cash, or can I assist you with financing and lease options?
- Are you considering any other vehicles?
- Is there anything else that I can do to help?

Also, if you are considering a trade-in, I can help you. I can take a condition report right over the phone, and provide you with a guaranteed value you can use toward the purchase of your new vehicle. So just let me know if you have a trade-in that you would like me to appraise.

Once I receive your response, I will complete any research you request and then will arrange a convenient time to provide you with all the information. What is the best time and phone number to contact you?"

Convenient time to provide me with the info??? Now and in an email would be the most convenient after you read the quote that Nissan I'm assuming sent you.

Not a promising start. Is it possible to submit another quote to another dealer?

after 24 hours supposedly.....

PS just did a RAQ with Universal Nissan in Orlando as their
Leaf specialist was very helpful and tuned in. As to actual
Quote... the GM hasn't yet set the policy on price.

I IM'ed Nissan and they told me I could change dealers 24 hours after the dealer submitted there quote. That sucks because so far the dealer I chose seems to be clueless about the whole process. So does that make Quote stuck till that get there act together? Hopefully I'll be able to do another quote and just pick another dealer after 24 hours.

Contacting other dealers in Miami to see if I can get a feel for who up to speed on the process.

Did you all have your home assessments completed? What is the price range? I am in Central Florida, and haven't driven a Leaf yet, so I am going to try to find a vehicle to test drive. Do you know if there are any stationed in Florida?

I can schedule a assessment in the middle of August, so there must be a certified vendor in Florida now.

Thanks for the advice,
Ormond

I already have a 220 line to my garage but given I seldom drive over 50 mile a day and have a second car I bet I could could get by with a 110 line. So anyway I contacted Nissan and had them wave the inspection. Wasn't an issue for me. Didn't really need to have someone come out and for $200 (think that was the cost?) tell me what I already now.

You do have to think about how you are going to charge the car though. You can go with what Nissan suggest, or do your own. There are more option then used to be so research here at this site is a good idea.

Don't know of any Demos car available yet.

All the Miami dealers are clueless on the process of ordering a Nissan Leaf. I finally got my order in at Bill Seidle Nissan. It took them all day and I was quite persistent on the phone with several people, including the GM, just to get the quote.

Good News is they sold it to me at MSRP. There was a $820 delivery charge but no dealer fee listed on the "transaction price". The email from Nissan says "Your Nissan LEAF will take approximately 3 - 4 months from your order date to its arrival at your dealer."
