Q:How can I become involved in the real world testing of the Leaf?

A:When you sign up for updates on the LEAF, you can indicate that you'd like to participate in testing.
 
Q:Will it be possible to plug in a laptop or other standard device into the vehicle

A:The LEAF will have a standard 12V automotive power outlet.
 
Q:Is it true that the LEAF get rid of all fluids such as coolant, transmission, steering wheel, brake...?

A:Most of these funcs are electronic, without fluids or motor oil. It will have brake fluid and washer fluid, tho.
 
Q:Will the battery overheating be an an issue for extended periods of driving?

A:The design of the car will ensure the battery is entirely safe from leaks and overheating.
 
Q:Will there be test drives for the public in the near future?

A:public test drives are possible. Sign up on the site and we will send you details when they are available.
 
Q:Where will the "appropriate charging stations" be located?

A:We're helping establish a wide charging network at malls, service stations, etc. Your nav system will show locations.
 
Q:Will you be able to schedule the heater to come on like you will be able to do for the A/C?

A:Yes - you will be able to control heat and a/c functions through timers and an internet tool.
 
Q:Will the cars body be made of recyclable material?

A:The LEAF will be almost fully recyclable at the end of its life.
 
Q:could you post a picture of the LEAF with the hood open so we can view the "engine compartment"?

A:There is no hood since there is no engine to service in the traditional way. Stay tuned for more pictures soon.
 
Q:case of a problem can a (normal) qualified electrician fix a Leaf? is a special training is needed?

A:The LEAF has an electric motor and no gasoline engine, so it will require service from qualified Nissan EV technicians.
 
Q:What is the expected price of the home-installed charge station components? Are they separate from the cost of the car?

A:We will provide more info about home chargers when it's available.
 
Q:how much torque does the leaf have?

A:The exact specs of the LEAF are still under development. It does, however, have 100% torque at 0 RPM!
 
Q:Will the Leaf have some sort of WiFi capabilites, since the IT tech will be able to assist in navigation?

A:The LEAF uses a cellular-type network. There is no WiFi capability at the moment.
 
Q:When plugging the car in will it be possible that the car would be "smart"enough to pull electricity during non peak hours?

A:You can program the car to charge whenever you like. Most people will charge overnight at off-peak times.
 
Q:since the battery is on the front, is there something (reliable) protecting it in case of a collision

A:The battery is actually located under the driver's seat. It has been tested for impact safety.
 
Q:Is there a timeline for the development of sufficient "charging station" infrastructure to make this competitive with ICEs?

A:We're working all the time on developing infrastructure. By the time of mass-production, lots will be in place.
 
Q:is the leaf going to have the zero emission logo on it

A:Current plan is to include a zero emissions badge, but not the big body graphic. Perhaps it will be available separately.
 
Q:Is the home charging station weatherproof

A:A weatherproof EVSE will be available.
 
Q:how long will the battery remained charged if you leave it parked where you cannot charge it

A:This depends on factors like ambient temperature, age of the battery
 
Q:Will the "engine compartment" just contain the smaller electric motor or is there the potential for more trunk space?

A:There is no front cargo space, but we are working to maximize interior and cargo space elsewhere.
