J-1772 Plug/Nozzle not going in

Has anyone had a problem with the plug/nozzle on their EVSE not plugging in all the way? Mine stops short of snapping in. When I try the portable L2 charger supplied with my Nissan S+ it works without problems. Does anyone have any suggestions. By the way when I look closely at the plug I am not able to see any problems or dirt.

There is a rubber O-ring deep inside the Jplug that can become out of place.
Another possibility is the latch on the Jplug may not be opening.

There are also a few (I used to have one) Chinese J-1772 plugs that are a bit out of spec - they are about 1mm too large in diameter. What EVSE is it on?

Like Leftie I have a Chinese EVSE that is a bit oversized- I have filed the outer surface down a bit but it is still a pain to use, must be other things which are slightly out of spec as well.
