We sold 3 2011 Orphans on Saturday as well. I advise anyone to snatch one of the up if you can while there are still a few out there. 2012's are on the way, and the value of a new 2011 is a NO BRAINER. I still have access to 18 New 2011 Orphans, so if anyone is interested please let me know. SL-E's and specific colors are going fast.

Out of curiosity, how do you come to have "access" to so many 2011 orphans? Are there really that many people backing out of orders or did you get some left over factory output?

Yeah, I know: trade secret!

The orphans available at the other locations are available for handsome premiums given the 2012 price increase. I think one of them is as high as 5k over msrp. Perhaps I should have said getting the 2011 at MSRP would be the hard part.
Actually, that's not always true. I got my orphan LEAF at Mossy Oceanside for 1K less than MSRP. http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=5364" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Quite a few dealerships are selling at or near MSRP. But even if there were a 5K+MSRP premium (which is highly unlikely to be successful), it would still be a better deal than buying a used car at these prices since the 7.5K is available for most people across the country (if they don't pay enough taxes then lease with quick buy is an option). In states like California where there's an additional state rebate of 2.5K, it's really not a difficult decision.
As an update, it looks like we were right - used LEAFs on eBay did not go for as much as mossyleaf thought but actually better than I expected. Mossleaf's first attempt didn't work http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2011-NISSAN-LEAF-SV-NO-RESERVE-/110750554784?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item19c93f5aa0#ht_4260wt_1165" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; But his followup attempt did, albeit at lower than his initial starting price. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2011-NISSAN-LEAF-SV-ONE-OWNER-LOW-MILES-NAVIGATION-BACK-UP-CAMERA-WE-FINANCE-/110771702317?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item19ca820a2d#ht_15013wt_1165" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Still, I think my original comments have turned out to be accurate. Orphan Leafs appear to be more available and are increasingly being sold for MSRP or less ($500 to $1250 less) and not at a price premium - therefore, still a better deal than used LEAFs if you have the resources e.g. money upfront.
