Ahh. Yeah my name has nothing to do with Lazarus. Lasareath is a name I made up when I was 12. I got Ultima II for my Commodore 64 and the game wanted me to make up a name. So I thought about it. I reversed my first name Sal to Las and added "areath" which at 12 years old sounded medieval.

My LEAF is my daily driver and I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee for hauling. In 16 days my Model S will be delivered and it will become my daily driver...and then, I can respond to your poll on TMC.

Curious, why Model S if you own Leaf? More range or more "luxury?"

I'm in the "EV is my daily driver, but still use another vehicle occasionally" camp.

I'm not quite sure why anybody would think a Leaf is a secondary car. You don't drive a Leaf because it's fun, like you would a sports car. You don't drive it because no other car in your garage or driveway fits a certain need, like a pickup or van. Unless you want to announce to the whole world how Eco-conscious you are, you don't drive a Leaf for image reasons like you would with a high-end car.

You drive a Leaf because it's economical to operate

Folks who signed up for 12k/year leases and now regretting not getting 15k/year leases is showing that some people are finding any and every excuse to drive it.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I'm in this camp and have these exact same thoughts. The LEAF is my daily driver, but I still use another vehicle sometimes. For example, today I have to drive a total of about 130 miles, so the LEAF stayed home. Days like this happen once every 3 or 4 months, so the need is rare. I also completely agree with Ron on the reasoning. The LEAF isn't "fun to drive" as a sports car would be. It is fairly cargo/people friendly, very much like my wife's hatchback, but it's no minivan. Not that I don't care about the environment, but I'm not in it for the image or polution thing. I leased the car because it's an inexpensive and unique (I definitely like that) way to commute to work every day. I did get 15k/year on my LEAF and am very happy I did. Besides the LEAF, my wife and I have 4 other ICE cars, and they get use too. But whever possible, the LEAF is my daily commuter.

Primarily more range but the luxury is certainly a plus. Also, I'm getting old, driving more, and I can not take it with me.

LEAF is my daily driver, but as of last week, it's my only car. Gas car's transmission destroyed itself, and I don't have the money to deal with it.

YES. My Leaf is my one and only car. The only time I've needed to rent an ICE so far was on Thanksgiving. I had an out of town guest and we were going to my sister's (at the very least 96 miles RT) and we were going to take the scenic route through SF, Golden Gate Park and along Ocean Beach (adding way more miles). We would've had to stop too many times to plug in and the day would've been used up charging. Plus, since it was a holiday I didn't want to take any chances of possible non-working stations.

Otherwise, it's been a great car for my needs. Of course, it would sure be great to see more charging stations, especially QC, on my side of the East Bay.

After 94 responses, there is not a single "No" response to this poll. I guess we all prefer to drive the vehicle with the lowest per-mile cost (at least on a marginal basis).

I imagine there are very few who would buy a LEAF to not use for daily driver. The cases I can think of for keeping an "occasional" car don't seem to apply (except maybe the last).

hauling large cargo (refrigerators, sheets of plywood, etc)
towing
track car
off-roading
snow/mountain specialist /4WD
salt car / beater
collectible

My daily driver, have only had it since 11/1/13 but 90% of the time it is my daily. Only times I didn't take it were prior to getting my L2 put in and had to drive with the Wife if I didn't get a chance to charge enough for my commute.

I do 60miles a day RT, only charge at home. While my wife has an ICE, since we got the L2 in and I can take the small detour to drop her at her office on my way in we have been car pooling. So we have an ICE but we are both using the Leaf for our daily commuter now (schedule permitting).
