Nugget for today...

The 2nd LEAF Tour will be late October or early November (I hope before the Seattle Auto Show). "Priority Reservationist" will have priority in the process, but all should get a chance to experince the car, assuming there's not a mob scene. Exact date, place and time has yet to be determined by Nissan. I'll post it when I know it.

For those who'll inevitably get left out somehow, fear not, all 'Certified Nissan LEAF dealers' will have a "demo' car for 6 mos there abouts so ALL who are interested can go in and get their very own test-drive as they await their car to arrive. It's a good idea to get familiar with your preferred local dealers' Nissan LEAF Sales Specialist so that they can keep you in the loop as the time draws near. Orders will commence at the dealer tenatively, August 19th. More info on the ordering process later...

ok so we can start order process in Aug. do we need to do anything to sign up for the test drive or does our reservation take care of that?

So we install the charger and buy the car before we can test drive it or see and touch the car? I don't think SO

Right, but you can wait on final "go/nogo" of install until at least Oct/Nov/Dec, because you won't have a car before then.

So that you can test-drive the car prior to finalizing your purchase order is why Nissan is having this 2nd tour. Especially in the 5 test-market cities is where there will be your opportunity. Nobody is forcing anybody to "buy, then drive", though that happens routinely in the biz. Perhaps not with you per say...

The charger will be installed 2 weeks prior to delivery, according to Nissan from what I know. So, you won't have a charger installed, lonely and waiting for it's LEAF companion to arrive, months and months away.

Notification will no doubt go out well in advance. As I mentioned earlier, get on a regular contact basis with your local dealer Nissan LEAF Sales Specialist. I can't stress that enough. The more you get to know them, the better informed you should be.

What's the best way to find out who at our dealer is the Nissan LEAF sales specialist? Can you just call & ask? I dropped by one Saturday a couple weeks ago and the sales guy I chatted with knew nothing.

Call during the week and ask for the Sales Manager. That person will have either been to the Leaf training, be scheduled to go, or know who he/she has assigned to go.

Operator : Thanks for calling *** Nissan.
Me : May I speak with your Leaf specialist.
Operator : Anyone can talk to you about leasing.
Me : No, not Lease .... Leaf.
Operator : Leaf ? ... What is Leaf ?
Me : Ok, just connect me to any sales person.

Hello good doctor,
Every store is suppose to have ( 2 ) trained and certified reps for the LEAF. Generally, these people are either in the Internet Dept or the 'most' senior Sales Agents. These are the people you will ultimately deal with when you place your order.
I suggest asking specifically for them when you call in.

If your local store doesn't have these people designated and trained by now, I'd say move on to the next closest one that does as you'll want to ensure yourself that your experience will go as you'd like and not end in disappointment.

OMG! That is so totally what happened to me at my "preferred dealer", except that I was standing right in front of the girl! Me: "You know, Nissan Leaf...the electric car you're supposed to be selling in 8 months?" (this was back in April).
