Smart ED

The 3rd generation Smart ED is coming up to steam. Nr 1000 rolled of the belt recently. They are ramping up production to meet customer demand, according to this article on hybridcars.com :

Huge progress has been made compared to the second generation. Now 55 kw, 125 k/ph max speed, 145 km range and 0-100 in about 11,5 seconds. Not exactly a Porsche but good enough for the price.

The second generation is used in San Diego and Amsterdam in the electric car2go fleet.

Ah well, for 15k after incentives, it's a pretty decent car. Might be a bit to small for the average American though

In the narrow cobbled streets of Amsterdam and beyond it works quite well
